[GIP-84] Annual Infrastructure Grant

Voting ended over 2 years agoSucceeded

The goal of this proposal is to renew the GIP-23 infrastructure grant (see GIP-23). The services suite has grown as well as the infrastructure, whereas some of the notable parts related to the costs are:

  • Collecting data from on-chain for the charts application;
  • Notification subscriptions for various events - telegram bots / discord, etc.;
  • Testnet infrastructure (liquidation bots, testnet price synchronization with mainnet); Reserve liquidation bot;
  • Ensuring the reliability of the infrastructure due to failures of individual providers / a ban on the use of their infrastructure (see the last case with Hetzner);
  • Infrastructure optimization (providers also compete with each other, so their services improve, new ones appear, etc.)

The costs last time were $5K each to contributors Harsh and doomsower from the backend initiative (https://gearboxprotocol.notion.site/Backend-Initiative-c7f647eed9684b88ba6653c37500447b) who maintain and pay for these things. The revised costs requested are as follows:

  • $5K to Harsh, on a pro rata basis for 12 months
  • $5K to doomsower, on a pro rata basis for 12 months

In case the contributor leaves or delegates some of the infrastructure expenses to another agent, then the remaining funds pro rata would need to be redistributed to that agent instead.
