Deploy $25k of Verse Ecosystem Funds into the dGEN1 airdrop pool

We are thrilled to bring you another exciting proposal as we continue to shape the future of Bitcoin.com’s Verse Ecosystem.

The dGEN1 is a dedicated mobile device designed to enable seamless, on-chain interactions for crypto users. Developed by Freedom Factory, it integrates blockchain functionalities like wallet connectivity, dapps, and secure transactions into a portable device, allowing users to interact with web3 without relying on traditional smartphones that are not optimized for crypto.

The dGEN1 device aims to simplify crypto usage by making it more accessible, secure, and intuitive, positioning itself as the go-to tool for everyday blockchain activities. Their mission is highly aligned with ours - to provide easy, fun, and rewarding crypto experiences for the next generation of crypto users. Our communities are also similar: wanting the easiest, most rewarding experience in crypto.

As part of the launch of the dGEN1 in Spring of 2025, Freedom Factory has organized an airdrop program specifically designed for dGEN1 device owners. This initiative rewards early adopters and supporters of the project with a share of a dedicated token pool, where projects can deposit tokens into the pool, to be distributed to all dGEN1 holders during launch: The distribution is set to commence in spring 2025, coinciding with the delivery of the dGEN1 devices.

To-date, there is US $355k+ worth of tokens in the airdrop pool, deposited by 26 projects. Each dGEN1 holder will receive around $63+ worth of tokens. 813 phones have been minted to-date:

Proposal

1. Deploy US $25,000 worth of VERSE from the Verse Ecosystem Fund into the dGEN1 airdrop pool. This will put us within the top 5 largest airdrop contributors to the pool to-date. This will be co-marketed by Freedom Factory to announce the deposit to increase exposure and awareness.
2. Explore secondary co-marketing activities with Freedom Factory during the launch of dGEN1, including dGEN1 giveaways of the dGEN1 mobile device to users of the Bitcoin.com platform and Verse Community members in 2025.
3. Explore further collaboration avenues with Freedom Factory, such as:
   1. offering Verse dapps like the Verse Scratcher, Verse DEX, and Verse Staking on the dGEN1 app directory
   2. including VERSE in the dGEN1 airdrop pool
   3. developing other crypto-related apps for the dGEN1 which utilize VERSE

Note:

1. Dgen1 is currently in pre-order phase and targeted for launch in Spring of 2025
2. 831 devices have been pre-ordered to-date

Pros:

• New user growth for Bitcoin.com and Verse

  By participating in the dGEN1 airdrop program and collaborating with Freedom Factory, Bitcoin.com and Verse may gain visibility among early adopters of the dGEN1 device. This positions us as early supporters of bleeding edge web3 technology, potentially attracting new dGEN1 users to the Bitcoin.com and Verse Ecosystems. Importantly, dGEN1 users skew towards highly engaged crypto users, and many are likely to have influence in the space. Getting VERSE in front of these high-value users may have long-lasting positive benefits.

• More usage and retention for Bitcoin.com and Verse

  By integrating Verse dapps such as the Verse DEX, Verse Scratcher and Verse Staking into the dGEN1 app, we would provide an easy way for dGEN1 users to access Verse dapps easily without going through web or mobile browsers. If the dGEN1 device becomes the quintessential on-chain device, this would increase usage and retention for dapps within the Bitcoin.com and Verse Ecosystems.

• Increased exposure for Bitcoin.com and Verse

  Collaborating with Freedom Factory for the launch of dGEN1 could create mutual promotional benefits, as our objectives and communities are similar. For us, a collaboration would position us being part of the growing trend of on-chain mobile solutions that makes crypto more accessible.

Cons:

• Uncertainty around dGEN1 adoption As the dGEN1 device is still in the pre-order phase, its market success is uncertain. If the device fails to gain traction or faces delays in delivery, the impact of our participation in the airdrop and collaborations may be limited.

• Early bugs and integration risks Bugs or issues in the initial batch of dGEN1 devices could harm the perception of projects involved in the ecosystem. Any integration challenges for Verse dapps or the airdrop program could further frustrate users and impact community sentiment.

• Limited target audience Currently, the dGEN1 device appeals primarily to a niche audience of crypto enthusiasts willing to use a dedicated device for on-chain interactions. This could limit the reach and effectiveness of VERSE's airdrop and dapp integrations, as the majority of crypto users may prefer using existing smartphones or desktops for their blockchain activities.
