Introduction
Greetings Verse Community,
As you may know, we organized a time-limited Verse Clickmas contest in December 2023, where participants competed to rank on the leaderboard to win prizes in VERSE. This contest ran for two weeks, resulting in 130k+ visits to the dApp, 3k+ participants, 1.45 M VERSE burnt, and 3.8 M VERSE worth of Scratch tickets purchased by Clickmas players.
We are organizing a second time-limited contest in February titled Verse Clicker Lunar New Year Contest that will run from 6 - 20 February 2024. This contest features improved game balance, Lunar New Year themed NFTs for Verse Scratcher, and anti-abuse monitoring. In the same spirit, participants will compete to rank on the leaderboard to win prizes in VERSE.
The goals of these time-limited Verse Clicker contests are to:
- Increase awareness of the VERSE token and Verse Ecosystem
- Increase acquisition of VERSE (through buys and swaps to VERSE)
- Increase community participation within the Verse Ecosystem
We’ve seen encouraging data from the initial Verse Clickmas contest in December that supports running more contests in the future.
Proposal
In the spirit of community engagement and decentralized decision-making, we present this proposal to determine the future of the Verse Clicker Contests. The community is invited to vote on the following options:
Option 1: Stop contests completely
Discontinue the time-limited Verse Clicker Contests and focus on other aspects of the Verse Ecosystem.
Pros:
- Resource Reallocation: Organizing contests and supporting collateral is resource-intensive. Discontinuing them may free up resources for other community initiatives or development efforts.
- Potential for Innovation: A break in regular contests may allow the community to brainstorm and propose new and innovative engagement activities.
Cons:
- Reduced Engagement: Discontinuing contests may result in a decrease in community engagement, as these events serve as a regular, engaging activity for Verse community members.
- Missed Opportunities: Ongoing contests provide opportunities to attract new community members and maintain the interest of existing ones. Discontinuation may result in missed opportunities for community growth.
Option 2: Continue contests monthly
Sustain the contests on a monthly basis for ongoing engagement.
Pros:
- Consistent Engagement: Monthly contests provide a regular and predictable schedule for community engagement, keeping members actively involved in the Verse ecosystem.
- Regular Prizes: Members can consistently look forward to monthly prizes, fostering motivation and competition within the community.
Cons:
- Potential Fatigue: Monthly contests may lead to participant fatigue, especially if the format, rewards, or game mechanics remain static. It could result in diminishing excitement over time.
- Resource Intensiveness: Hosting monthly contests requires significant resources, and if not managed properly, it could strain the organizing team and affect the quality of the events.
Option 3: Continue contests once every two months
Sustain the contests on a bi-monthly basis for ongoing engagement, while balancing effort on other aspects within the Verse Ecosystem.
Pros:
- Balanced Engagement: Holding contests once every two months provides a compromise between regular engagement and avoiding potential participant fatigue compared to monthly contests.
- Efficient Resource Allocation: Bi-monthly contests allow for more efficient allocation of resources, ensuring quality events without straining organizers or resources.
Cons:
- Less Regular Prizes: The less frequent contests mean that participants will have to wait longer for the chance to win prizes, potentially reducing motivation for consistent involvement.
- Potential for Missed Opportunities: Less frequent contests may result in missed opportunities to attract and retain community members, particularly those who value regular engagement.
Option 4: Continue contests quarterly
Transition to a quarterly schedule for a balance between contests to drive engagement, developing other aspects within the Verse Ecosystem and planning for new features.
Pros:
- Balanced Engagement: Quarterly contests strike a balance between regular engagement and providing more extended planning periods, potentially reducing participant fatigue.
- Opportunities for Larger Events: With more time for planning, organizers can potentially create larger and more elaborate events, attracting a broader audience.
Cons:
- Reduced Frequency: The community may experience a decrease in engagement due to the reduced frequency of contests.
- Longer Waiting Periods: Longer intervals between contests might lead to reduced excitement and anticipation among community members.
Voting Period
The voting period for this proposal will commence on 6 February and will conclude on 7 March. During this time, we encourage all members of the Verse community to express their preferences and actively contribute to this significant decision.
