Summary/Abstract/Motivation

“Our primary goal is to foster & encourage the development of the NFT space”

As the gmDAO, gm.studio, & our other initiatives continue to expand and deploy content it is vital to pursue a writing/editorial team responsible for keeping members informed/engaged, promoting our work & mission outside of our group, and establishing ourselves as leaders in the DAO & generative art communities.

1. Extending the gm.press branch funding.
2. A pre-approved budget for commissioned graphic works.

1. Rationale

The Editorial Committee shall be responsible for allocating funds from a monthly budget to writings/media/graphic works that are of interest & value to our community + a general audience.

This committee aims to establish an editorial structure to filter submissions and commission content, and evaluate whether a given work is relevant and of sufficient quality to be featured on our channels. As well as any community member is welcome to share thoughts/point of views about the editorial content, the committee shall exercise final say over the content published across our official platforms.

⚠️ Participation on the Committee is not a paid role.

2. Specifics.

Written work (including articles, collection landing page, etc) will be read and analyzed by the committee under multiple criteria : relevance - complexity(research component, interview component, time required,etc) - writing quality. The committee reserves the right to refuse / delay any work for specific reasons and the author must be aware that reasonable edits/modification might be requested by the committee prior to publication. Any such edits will not result in additional fees paid to the writer. Right now, the committee is made up of seven volunteers : Wes, Cyphr, Ze_Boubs, Ignoramus, Speeps, Maths Town and Yorks. As time goes on, we'll hopefully include or dismiss volunteers, based on a vote from the current committee. Committee’s mode of operation will be specified and amended if needed.

**Writing rates :**The committee will use these rates as a basis cost with words threshold, it can add a complexity factor up to 40% after analysis and deliberation with committee members. The committee is voting on 2 specific questions : “Do we accept this submission?” and “What is the difficulty factor ?”. The difficulty factor is a weighted vote.

Classic article ⇒ x < 500 words : 250$ Medium article ⇒ 500 < x < 1000 words :  500$ Long article ⇒ x > 1000 words : 700$

Graphic work/Twitter Space :

The committee can vote on commissioning graphic works and/or Twitter spaces for specific purposes.Rates : Graphic work : 40$/hour. Twitter Space : 400$/hour.

The committee shall vote on “Should we commission X hours at 40$/hour of graphic works from A ?” or “Should we approve a Twitter space from A on a topic X?”

3. Pre-approved contributors.

Given the past work of these individuals, we’d like to pre-approve some of their future works.

Graphic designer (Speeps) :

Created graphic visuals for gm.studio, gm.erch, gm.dao workgroups (medium, docs, deck, marketing).

⇒ 40$/hr, up to 20 hours/month.

Studio Spaces/Interviews (Wes)

All but one of our studio spaces have been hosted by Wes Hazard (0x_wes) who is a professional emcee and television presenter with extensive experience with hosting, interviewing, booking, & research. In addition to smoothly guiding the conversation & Q&As during the live spaces he has conducted extensive pre-interviews with all artists for the previous drops and prepared a basic agenda for the spaces. We want to pre-approve up to one monthly twitter spaces including one per studio drops

Breakdown of costs.

Monthly funding for 6 months starting February.

Based on rates above, we require a 4100$ monthly budget that doesn’t roll over if unspent.

A specific multisig wallet (0x195143A5001ac3bfd640F54c383bFa9Bc4ecFc78) is used where funds are deposited. Funds don’t roll over into the next month. The committee will ensure that money spent by the press branch isn’t over allocated.
