"Coverage $1000 of the short film production, which was shot in January and February, as well as a support for the final day of the project, which includes the photos + fashion film for the Ode to Skate, to be carried out on March 31st."
The "Ode to Skate" project, conceived by Carolina Cristine, a photographer, began in 2021 as a photo project and evolved into the production of a short film in 2023. All scenes were independently recorded in that same year, but the project was not completed. Now, in 2024, we are resuming efforts to fulfill this dream and record the Ode for the second time from scratch.
Through a film, photographs, art, classical painting, street art (pixo), music, and narratives, "Ode to Skate" aims to reveal the challenges and love present in the skateboarding scene, encouraging discussions and exploring various other areas of life, connecting them to the skateboarding universe. In the future, we plan a grand launch event, including Best Trick, a photo exhibition, a party with the musicians who created the music and soundtrack, and the premiere of the short film.
Currently, we are in the process of developing the photos and the film, which explores profound themes such as freedom, work, desire, childhood, speech, art, introspection, community, expectation, and frustration. This film delves into the skateboarding universe in a unique way, bringing to light the complexities of growth and the quest for a connection with our inner child.
"Ode to Skate" delves into the emotional journey of a skateboarder named Gui, who faces the challenges inherent in the process of growth. The film addresses themes such as the Peter Pan syndrome, anxiety, and the struggle against expectations that can lead to frustration. Gui, our protagonist, finds himself confronted with the responsibilities of adulthood while trying to balance his work and his passion for skateboarding. Throughout the journey, he discovers the importance of community and authenticity, with friends playing crucial roles in his transformation. The film celebrates life, art, freedom, and the quest for true essence.
The film aims to immerse itself in the world of skateboarding, classical painting, street art (pixo), emotional journey, and community, delivering a compelling narrative that critiques the current skateboarding scene and market.
In addition to the short film, we are exploring other forms of expression, such as photography. It was through photography that Carolina, the mind behind the project, after a year of capturing unpublished images, came up with the idea of telling the story in a more dynamic way. Over these nearly 3 years, we have conducted various experiments and documented them all, concluding with the final photo session set to take place in the coming days. We are also involved in music, with Pedro producing the film's soundtrack, and we are recording a song performed by Guilherme Alves, Romero, and Janvi, three skateboarders from the cast. We are also exploring classical painting and pixo with Romero and MIA. Additionally, we are delving into art and fashion, already customizing the protagonist's clothing. The idea is to develop more clothing pieces and then head to a photography studio for the final project records.
