Skate and Entrepreneur Career

Raphael Gibson is 31 years old and has been skateboarding since he was 12 years old. He spent his adolescence traveling between events and cities in Brazil, getting to know the most different states and habits of Brazil.

He skated for some sneaker brands over the years like Nike SB, Ous and New Balance Numeric and had several appearances in big Brazilian video channels, websites and in the main Brazilian skate magazines. Today he is the founder and head of Essência Skate and a skater for Disturb

He graduated as B.A. in Advertising and produced two independent videos together with while in college named "Soul Skatista”. With releases in 2013 and 2017 he acted as a skater and filmmaker for both. Both videos were finalists for MIMPI (International Skateboard and Surf Film Festival). In 2018 he skated for Ruexistência video by Renato Riguetti.

In 2015, in the midst of a scenario where there were no skate brands from Rio de Janeiro, he founded Essence. The skateboarding brand is now nationally recognized as one of the most acknowledged of the hood. As the head of the company, he has produced numerous campaigns, collections, and events over the years. Also introduced skateboarders in the skate market, produced their own authorial decks models, and managed new collabs with existing crews from the scene.

In 2020, he released the brand's first collective video called PARFUM, aired in the main Brazilian street skateboarding media. The video was produced by Gibson and shows footage of several skaters, including himself, performing high level tricks. By the end of the year he is about to release another skate video by brand named “Entorpessencia” and a documentary named “Resistance and Existence in Skate Parks”. Besides these, he will also release a major documentary about the history of XV Square, one of the main skate squares in Brazil, where Gnars is sponsoring the annual event held in place.

Gibson is currently a regular trader and entered the crypto market in 2017. In 2019 he founded a group named “Jovens Crypto” that aims to help lay people to understand crypto and its dynamics. Opened also 3EC Financial Moves mentorship in 2020, which focuses on scalp trading and identifying market reversals, with its own setup developed over the years.

In 2022 he founded unBLOCK, a company that through technology empowers artists and companies that want to enter on web3. He is the financial operator of the company, which recently launched its genesis collection with the artist Talita Persi. Today, besides unBlock and Essence, he manages his time between filming, skateboarding, events, and the web3 ecosystem as a whole.

Nounish track record

Gibson’s recently organized an event at Providencia Favela at Rio. The “Lil Nouns Festival” was funded by Lil Nouns Prop House and had Essencia, Redley and Becks as partners.

Thus proving his ability to organize events and to connect with partners for Nounish things.

The proposal stands for 6 months of work and aims to strengthen the Rio skaters community bond with Gnars DAO, to proliferate the meme through events and to create some nounish goods as merch and others for the community.
