Budget: Propose ideas for funds allocation

Summary

Each year, Peaceful DAO initiates a participatory budgeting process to determine strategic programming priorities for the fiscal year. This process establishes the organizations annual funding priorities, allocating funding tranches to each sector of its programming. The budgeting process will be followed by a distribution process to determine how funds are allocated within each of the determined program sectors.

Specification

This year's annual budget is $1.5M. We have three primary areas of operation:

1. Granting Rounds
2. Granting Programs
3. Applied Research

This proposal approves the $1.5M spending limit, and three strategic priorities for the upcoming year. If approved, a budgeting process will be opened within 72 hours of proposal passage, and stakeholders will be able to determine the amount of funds that will be allocated to each area of operation.

Motivation

This proposal is part of Peaceful's standard operating procedures. In the event that the proposal does not pass, stakeholders should table discussions on the budget, and if necessary, establish a specific budgeting working group to determine if there are any protracted issues that should be workshopped and resolved, in order to facilitate appropriation of funds for 2024 operations.
