Grant Description

We aim to develop an AI-powered Discord bot or Docs widget for Synthetix, leveraging advanced Large Language Models (LLMs). This bot or widget will unify Synthetix's Github repositories, documentation, relevant articles, and Discord Q&A history, providing a natural language interface for user inquiries. Our goal is to amplify the efficiency of Synthetix's Developer Relations, Customer Support, and Community Support teams, reduce the workload on Discord, and accelerate responses to common questions, thereby delivering a more effective support experience to the Synthetix community.

Overview

Our project aims to create a powerful, AI-driven Discord bot or Docs widget specifically tailored for the Synthetix community. Leveraging the state-of-the-art in Large Language Models (LLMs), this bot or widget will bring together resources from Synthetix's Github repositories, official documentation, pertinent articles, and previous Q&A interactions on Discord. The proposed solution will serve as a dynamic tool, offering responses to user inquiries in natural language.

The core goal of this initiative is to augment the capabilities of the Developer Relations, Customer Support, and Community Support teams within the Synthetix ecosystem. We envision this bot or widget to be an active and accessible knowledge hub, capable of offering quick, relevant responses to common queries, reducing the workload on support teams, and thus allowing them to focus on unique customer issues and community-building activities.

Project Implementation Plan

Pre-Implementation (1 week):

Objective: Understand the needs of the DevRel and Community Support teams, identify their pain points, and decide the areas where the bot or widget could be most useful. Activities: Conduct discussions with the teams, identify high-value data sources for the bot, and plan the project's subsequent stages based on these insights. Deliverable: A comprehensive requirement document detailing the functionalities and features of the bot or widget, along with a selected list of data sources for implementation.

Milestone 1 - Implementation of Data Sources (1 week):

Objective: Integrate high-value data sources into the bot or widget. Activities: Post the discovery phase, we will incorporate 3-4 high-value data sources into the bot or widget. We'll use the Llama Index to establish indices and a vector database to facilitate embeddings-based search on queries. This will involve refining file loading, index creation, and data source integration. Deliverable: A functional bot or widget with integrated data sources that can respond to queries. Expected bugs: hallucinations, mismatches on query/documents.

Milestone 2 - Testing, Optimization, and Deployment to Production (3 weeks):

Objective: Optimize the bot, eliminate any bugs, and prepare it for production. Activities: This phase will concentrate on eliminating hallucinations and refining prompt engineering to ensure only relevant answers are given, with source material and links for users to follow up on. The aim is to make the bot or widget production-ready. Deliverable: A production-ready bot or widget approved by the Customer / Community Support teams, ready for deployment on Synthetix's Discord channel or Docs page.

Post-Implementation (Ongoing):

Objective: Regularly maintain and update the bot, ensuring its high performance and usefulness to the Synthetix community. Activities: Monitoring the bot’s performance, collecting user feedback, implementing updates and improvements, and handling any technical issues that arise. Deliverable: A well-maintained, regularly updated bot or widget that consistently delivers value to the Synthetix community.

Additional Information

Funding Request

Our team is requesting a total grant of $5,000 USD for the successful completion of this project. The funds will be allocated as follows:

Milestone 1 - Implementation of Data Sources and Pre-Implementation Phase: 50% of the funding upon completion ($2,500) Milestone 2 - Testing, Optimization, Deployment to Production, and Maintenance: 50% of the funding upon completion ($2,500)
