Project Name: Webacy
Description
Webacy.com is the ultimate protection layer for your self-custodied assets. We’ve created a super simple solution using smart contracts to help you secure your blockchain-based assets with a panic button, a backup wallet, real-time wallet notifications, and even a crypto will. Our self-executing contracts will allow us to expand into products like time-locked funds, transaction firewalls through private RPC’s, mempool intercepters, and more. We’re building a suite of products to be embeddable into other products like marketplaces, exchanges, on-ramps, payment methods, and wallets.
Webacy is creating a safer web3 for everyone. We’ve raised $5mm to date from incredible investors like Mozilla Ventures, Dreamers (Will Smith), Soma Capital, GMJP, Gary & AJ Vaynerchuk (creators of Veefriends and Vaynersports Pass), Quantstamp (a leading web3 security audit firm), and more - and have an incredible team of cybersecurity engineers, estate attorneys, and more. Our smart contracts have been certified and audited by Certik.
Project Goals
MetaMask’s grant will help fund an audit of Webacy’s integration with MetaMask’s snaps. Here are Webacy’s outcomes if issued this grant:
Increased security: An audit of our smart contracts would identify and address potential security vulnerabilities, reducing the risk of hacks, exploits, and other security breaches for the MM integration.
Improved interoperability: The audit would ensure that Webacy’s solution is compatible with the MetaMask Snap program, enabling users to access and manage Webacy tools.
Trust and Reputation: A successful audit will entrust confidence among users and investors, while demonstrating the project’s commitment to security and transparency at every step of integration.
Security Partner: Integrating Webacy’s security solutions will add additional safety options for Metamask users, ultimately driving more user engagement and usage of the Metamask Wallet through the integration.
The Webacy team will handle the architecture, building, testing, and integration of the snap. The Metamask dev team will provide development support when it comes to questions, architecture review, and collaboration to ensure our technologies integrate seamlessly. Both Webacy and Metamask teams will work together to develop the marketing and launch around the integration
Target Milestones
We can tackle any or all of the following milestones depending on funding, scope and feasibility.
Development of “Webacy Watchdog” integration. Webacy’s “Watchdog” feature assigns transaction from from a consolidated dataset and displays it in various Metamask contexts. Consolidated risk score is derived from: MythX, GoPlus, Chainalysis, Chainabuse, as well as proprietary algorithms. This risk score will be displayed and provide a link to a Risk Detail page on Webacy’s servers.
Development of Webacy EPNS Push Notification listener for WalletWatch and SafeRPC notifications. Transactions blocked by Webacy SafeRPC will push a notification to Metamask via an EPNS listener to a Metamask pre-transaction window. The notification will include data on the blocked transaction, supplemented with “Watchdog” risk assessment data, and links to allow users to “confirm” and “deny” the transaction. This will preempt the real transaction in metamask, and the user will only see the real transaction after they’ve confirmed the blocked transaction.
Transactions tracked by Webacy Wallet Watch (signatures, internal transactions, etc.) will be pushed straight to Metamask as a notification, along with “Watchdog” risk assessment data. Development of easy-onboarding snap that supports one-click setup of Webacy SafeRPC (adds RPC network that screens transactions).
Development of “Login Validator” that verifies that an authentication signature is performed on a “Webacy Vetted™” project. This will match each signature with a unique key displayed in a notification, as well as in the signature message, to indicate that the signature is both safe and authentic.
