At the launch of Holdr (HLDR), the composable stable pool type was not yet available, so multiple user-created USDC/USDT weighted pools emerged to meet the demand for stablecoin liquidity.
However, the majority of USDC/USDT liquidity has since migrated to an official composable stable pool deployed by Holdr. This pool is much more resistant to slippage than the 50/50 USDT/USDT weighted pool, making it the preferred choice for stablecoin liquidity.
Holdr has provided a UI warning for weeks, urging users to remove their votes from the deprecated USDC/USDT pools. However, despite these warnings, 6% of veHLDR voting power (and hence 6% of emissions) is still being allocated to these deprecated pools. This means that HLDR emissions are currently being wasted on pools with no benefit to the Holdr ecosystem.
To address this issue, we propose to kill the gauges for both deprecated USDC/USDT pools:
This will prevent any further emissions from being allocated to these pools, freeing up HLDR emissions to be routed to more productive pools.
The DAO multisig 0x432Eb1f2730662AD1A9791Ed34CB2DBDf7001555 will be responsible for calling killGauge on these gauges.
We believe that this proposal is necessary to ensure that HLDR emissions are being used effectively to support the Holdr ecosystem. We urge all veHLDR holders to support this proposal by voting in favor of it.
