Abstract

This proposal calls for the March cohort Special Council election to begin on March 17, 2026, at 17:00 UTC and run for seven (7) days, ending on March 24, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. This election will fill three (3) Special Council seats, as designated in the Horizen DAO Constitution.

Background

The Special Council is a 7-member body tasked with providing oversight, reviewing proposals, and ensuring the security and financial stability of the Horizen DAO. To maintain continuity while allowing for community input, the council operates on a staggered election schedule:

  • March Cohort: 3 seats
  • September Cohort: 4 seats

This proposal ensures the timely execution of the election, allowing tokenholders to select representatives for these three Special Council seats. The newly elected members will officially begin their term in March.

March Cohort – Seats

The three seats of the March cohort are up for election. Current council members Ben Charbit, Domenico Sodiomayor, and JohnCarlo Maddalena are running for re-election.

Election Details

  • Start Date: March 17, 2026, at 17:00 UTC
  • End Date: March 24, 2026, at 17:00 UTC
  • Seats Available: 3 Special Council seats (March cohort)
  • Voting Method: Snapshot
  • Voting System: Weighted Voting – Each voter may spread voting power across any number of choices.
  • Winners: The three candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected to the Special Council.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set forth in the Horizen DAO Constitution, including:

  • Experience in web3, governance, or community leadership
  • Background in community engagement and community safety
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and excellent communication skills
  • No conflicts of interest (e.g., no more than 2 SC members from the same entity)
  • Compliance with nationality requirements (at least 5 SC members must be non-US persons)
  • No affiliations with competitor blockchains
