Voting ended over 4 years agoSucceeded

IIP: 61 Title: Head of Analytics - Full Time Offer Status: Proposed Author: @overanalyser Created: 20th July 2021 Quorum: 96,149.70 INDEX [1,922,994 * 0.05]

Simple Summary

Hire @JDCook into a full time position at Index Coop as the Head of Analytics based on the Index Coop Hiring Guidelines and the role defined in Hiring-Head of Analytics.

Abstract

The proposed offer has the following package:

  • $10,000 USD per month ($5,000 as USDC & $5,000 as INDEX based on standard 20 day TDAP)
  • 0.15% of total INDEX supply (15,000) over 2 years with a 6 month cliff.
  • $20,000 per year stipend for family health insurance and further personal development.
  • Start date 01 August 2021

Compared to the current contributors this is an increase of $5,000 per month and $20,000 annual stipend).

Compared to the Hiring guidelines for a standard technical role, the stipend ($20,000 per year) is added and the INDEX vesting has been retained at the higher level (0.15 vs 0.10%)

Motivation

The initial announcement of the position made a clear case for recruiting a Head of Analytics:

Why?:

  • The Index Coop’s long-term success relies on high-quality, data-driven decision making to shape our protocol strategy. Data drives everything from prospective product demand & current product usage, to revenue breakdown, voter participation, and more.
  • While the AWG has been impactful, locking down a long-term, full-time contributor who is committed to ensuring the Coop is making data-driven decisions will set the Coop up for long-term success. This aligns with one of our core principles, being ‘data driven, community governed’.
  • Institutional memory and context is also important, having someone long-term gives stability to the Coop and advantages to our data construction. Understanding/anticipating Coop’s needs is easier with context built up over time.
  • We build a lot of marketing on the back of data, meaning analytics is another tool to leverage for growth. We could use someone who builds credibility in the space to push this content and represent the Coop externally as a leader.
  • Strong leadership is needed to build an Analytics team into a core competency that will drive long-term success.
  • By making this position full time, we align the goals of the Coop and the contributor.

Following the recruitment process and subsequent package negotiations, the hiring team believe that the proposed offer is good for both @JDCook and Index Coop.
