Introduction
Recently, Interface have released a “Featured” tab on the explore page. Highlighting a number of value aligned projects, with the goal of providing a platform of extended reach, engagement and opportunity for these projects. Our intent now is to move away from this centralised curation from the core team, and to a more collaborative, community, artist led approach to this feature. We believe curation is a public good, and should be controlled by not only our community, but value aligned communities and creatives.
The first step to making this a reality is opening up project submissions to the public and creating a curatorial framework that aims to account for cultural biases, social status bias and sybil resistance.
The model…
This proposal is for the creation of a curation and project submission model within Interface DAO.
This looks like:
- The creation of a submission form for Artists, Builders and anyone creating on-chain to feature their work within Interface’s Featured Collections.
- All submissions of the past month or “epoch” will be voted on by Interface DAO members, as well as previously featured artists.
- The voting process will be done using snapshot, with a list of all submitted projects. Each “Particle” holder (DAO Member) will have three votes to use as they wish. This can be spread between multiple entries, or all three to one submission for maximum conviction. (Weighted voting)
- The creation of a pod within Interface DAO to onboard and engage in outreach to potential featured projects and creators. Employing a cyclic approach to who does this in order to prevent a mono-culture of projects.
A structure is also needed to create rotation and/or a healthy flow of new members to the voting pool. This will require further discussion, however we need to ensure the curatorial power of the DAO is continually avoiding bias and showcasing projects from a myriad of cultures and sub-cultures.
Benefits to featured collections
- Increased visibility and engagement
- All collection holders gain access to Interface Beta
- Highlight in Interface Monthly Update and Socials
- Collection creator highlight in-app (Similar to particle holder badge)
Benefits to Curators
- Next step in a community/labs hybrid platform = more ownership
- Showcase their own favourite projects
- Social and Financial Incentive
Concerns
- Without a diverse and healthy flow of new members voting, this model could attract a bias to the preferences of Interface DAO early members.
Proposal Details
- It’s a high-impact decision, so a quorum requires the participation of at least 30 Particle holders
-To pass, this proposal must be approved by 75% of the voting Members
