Synopsis
Renew payout to dao dev inc. for 7 FCs. Direct payout to dao dev inc’s new Juicebox project. Accept revised Terms of Engagement with dao dev inc.
Motivation
In the past 7 cycles I’ve worked on:
Partnerships, Recruiting, and Creative Direction
- Rants For You - Gabriel Haines
- Goal: Demonstrate utility NFT application for content creators
- I conceived of the project, its setup and format, sold Gabriel on trying it, and launched 100% of the Juicebox config on his behalf. I also bought several specific rants to make the project happen on social media. I did the first artworks, Brileigh did the second, and Sage has prepared a third.
- NFT Tokenomics Office Hours
- Goal: Improve NFT tokenomics across projects on the protocol.
- I had the idea, I started the show, I made the art, and I host it on Twitter Spaces with Jango. I record the intros and Matthew and Brileigh edit and post the show. The show is very good imho.
- Thus far failed experiments monetizing via NFTs.
- Partybid x Juicebox Demo - Monkey Helpers
- Goal: Demonstrate PartyBids can issue NFTs on Juicebox
- I had the idea for configuring the sale of NFTs via a PartyBid. I setup the PartyBid and Filip did a big job creating the JB project, art, twitter and discord.
- JBDAO Publications
- Providing creative input into Juicenews and Juicecast, occasional tutorial videos or blogs
- Nance/Juicetool
- Goal: Make good on the latent potential of Nance / Juicetool.
- Slowly helping to consolidate what Jiggly and Twodam have built into a simple coherent turnkey governance solution: process + frontend/backend. They were already essentially headed this direction, but I clarified need and am working through designs with both of them.
- Krause Haus Bounty
- Facilitated development of Acidicsantana's Krause Haus project. We had lengthy dm convos leading up to the project, and occasional correspondence during planning, to tune his ideas for bounties into something achievable short term, with a clear concept, and specific tactics for maximizing impact and feasability.
- Lexicon Devils
- Helped with v3 migration, and provide consistent feedback and pitch treasury configs and partnerships to increase revenues and engagement. Attempting to connect with underground NFT scene but in practice impact has been minimal, they've mostly done their own thing.
- JBX CN
- Conceived of project seeking to attract Chinese language devs and project creators to a JBDAO-connected hub project, and ideated on next steps and remit with Filip and Zhape. Very limited progress thus far, despite good concept. Communication and alignment needs work. Still promising.
- ConstitutionDAO2
- I kicked off the convo in PeopleDAO discord and played role in the early planning stages: assessed internal social needs, successfully pitched NFT centric raise as distinct from CDAO1. Lots of talk with Nucleo as well.
- Smaller experiments: Juicepill Mark Nadal, Web3 Galaxy Brain Ad Spots.
- Ongoing BD, Partnership, and project facilitation convos: Llama, Code4rena (and related Audit Fund candidates), Build Guild, JokeDAO, Blunt Finance, PartyDAO, Seed Club, Gitcoin, Aragon, Mfers, PolygonDAO, Zora/Public Assembly, Lenster, Endaoment, Qwestive, NounsDAO periphery, SharkDAO. This takes a lot of effort and time.
Internal Comms
- Town Hall moderation with Filip
- Consistent honest voice in governance, even when it's hard, despite political inexpedience of this posture. Goal: set an example that we say what we think, for the health of the DAO and quality of life of its contributors.
- Occasional Discord support for project creators
- Helping organize visibility efforts
External comms
Operations
- Governance process stewardship
- Delicately managing interpersonal conflicts to avoid unneeded drama, at times
Protocol + Product
- Wrote (and have yet to deploy) v1 token uri resolver
- Lots of frontend feedback, bug reports, and product design input
- Cmd + k Project Search
- Push for no-UI advanced features
In the next 7 cycles I’d like to focus on product and application development via production/creative direction and execution roles where appropriate. Focuses: Creative direction of experiments and project support, NFT Tokenomics experiments, Partnerships, Internal/External Comms.
Specification
Pay $8000 of ETH to v2 project 412 (dao dev inc) for 7 cycles (GC 41 through 48 inclusive).
By approving this proposal, JuiceboxDAO confirms that it has read and agrees to dao dev inc.’s revised Terms of Engagement (https://snapshot.4everland.link/ipfs/QmSfynSWotZmkwv8vc7MAjofewj1rJa1woWxyDRVrBEQXE).
Rationale
JuiceboxDAO needs visibility and product applications badly. We’re spending more than we make and most outsiders don’t understand any of Juicebox’s core mechanisms or affordances. My job is demonstrating these and focusing on shipping tasteful solutions for the most promising endeavors that are open to incubation support from JBDAO.
This proposal ALSO introduces revised Terms of Engagement that
- Clarify that the Terms are between JuiceboxDAO and dao dev inc.
- Clarify that the Terms apply if the DAO votes to approve the proposal according to the present Governance Process
- Clarify that the IP created during this contract is persistently licensed to the DAO, removing some confusing language.
- Clarify that dao dev inc. is not indemnifying JuiceboxDAO for use of its Services.
Pointing funds at a Juicebox project will increase dogfooding of JBDAO, encourage more folks to do the same, and at the expense of 2.5% of the payout’s total value from dao dev inc.’s perspective
Risks
I do not perform meaningful work during this recurring payout period.
Timeline
Starts in GC 41 and active through GC 47 inclusive.
Must be renewed before the start of GC 48.
