Kong Land Green Cards

This proposal is to create a new class of KONG Land “Green Card” tokens that would welcome in people interested in KONG Land to channels available to $CTZN (like #citizen) for a limited period of time.

A Green Card token could, depending on technical implementation, be either an ERC20 or ERC721 token which is uncapped in potential issuance. Green Cards should expire after issuance – a minimum of 1 year after issuance or a maximum of 5 years after issuance.

This proposal specifically seeks to create an initial 2024 “season” of 1500 Green Card tokens immediately for use at hackathons and conferences, however, the token would be uncapped in the event $CITIZENs or the Senate agree to issue subsequent Green Cards within this season. These initial 1500 Green Card tokens don’t preclude other subsequent, overlapping Green Card token issuances (e.g. Season 2024.1 or Season 2025).

Why Green Cards?

Currently there is no easy way to onboard new $CITIZENs to KONG Land. The $CITIZEN pool is only semi-functional (tokens cannot currently be sold to the pool given liquidity constraints) and the price is high. $CTZN could be used, however, these tokens are on L1 and costly to distribute, while guaranteeing permanent citizenship without contribution.

A Green Card token would allow for onboarding potential new $CITIZENs in a low risk fashion. If a Green Card holder contributes to KONG Land, citizenship may be granted to them – although this proposal does not seek to define what criteria might be used to establish these contributions.

If issued on a L2, the token could be low cost to distribute broadly. Likewise, with an uncapped supply, Green Cards can be distributed on HaLo chips at conferences without concern that any token is “wasted”. An uncapped supply does not imply that millions of Green Cards would be issued, but rather that Green Cards can be issued easily – as $CITIZENs see fit.

Potential to Collaborate with Creators for Green Card Art

Each Green Card Token issuance represents an opportunity to collaborate with projects and artists to create art for the tokens.

Green Card Token

The 2024 Green Card token proposed is an ERC721 token that would be minted on Optimism and granted to 1500 physical Kong Land Green Cards. This token would be claimable by the holder and would allow access to the #citizen channel through Collabland verification until January 1st 2026. It could also grant the holder the ability to transfer and hold $LAND token through whitelisting of the token on the $LAND contract.

For this proposal, the 1500 Season 2024 Green Card tokens would be issued.

The token issuance would remain “open” such that $CITIZENs or the Senate could mint more tokens within the Season 2024 issuance as deemed appropriate. This token could be superseded by alternative Green Card tokens in the future, as approved by $CITIZENs.

Actions:

• Create a Season 2024 Green Card Token and allow for the immediate issuance of 1500 tokens to physical KONG Land Green cards Add a Collabland role for Season 2024 Green Card Token holders that grants access to #citizen
• Add the new token to the $LAND contract as an authorized spender and recipient (this does not implicitly entitle Green Card holders to $LAND from any airdrop)
• On January 1st, 2026, remove the Collandland access to #citizen for the Season 2024 Green Card Token holders
