The purpose of this proposal is to outline what the Product Team will be building for the next 3 months and how it will benefit Krause House DAO as well as improve our odds of acquiring an NBA team (or any other professional team).

This proposal will be for a 3-month period, starting November 1.

During the next 3 months, the Product Team will be focused on delivering two main products: Krause House Quiz Show and Dynamic NFTs.

Budget Request and Delivery Specifications

  • Trik: $8,000 USDC and 5,000 KRAUSE /month.
  • Greg: compensation will be given after the delivery of a product. The total compensation will be based on Greg’s anticipated total time spent on that product and his monthly rate of $12,000 and 5000 KRAUSE. We estimate 160 hours of development for the Quiz Show app and 160 for Dynamic NFTs, so Greg is requesting $12,000 and 5,000 KRAUSE at delivery of each product.
  • Dogstoevsky’s existing stream of $8,000 and 5,000 KRAUSE /month will only continue based on this proposal passing.
  • $2,000 and 1,000 KRAUSE for quiz show rewards, legal fees (for dynamic NFT compliance), and cloud services. The DAO can keep whatever the product team ends up not needing to request.

Krause House Quiz Show

Details and Purpose

The past two weeks of doing the Krause House Quiz Show has demonstrated that there is an interest from the Krause House community in continuing the internal engagement. The reception has been very positive to the show and our wonderful host UncleJon.

In the last 2 weeks, we've had a turnout (excluding prod. team + jon) of 12 and 11 participants for the 1st and 2nd quiz respectively. Between both quizzes, we’ve re-engaged several previously lurking members and onboarded some brand new members to the DAO.

We'd like to take this proof of concept further and build a real web application that Krause House can use to host the Quiz Show and scale its impact by going beyond the limitations of a Discord server. Long-term, we believe the foundation of this quiz app could allow Krause House to host other shows like NBA predictions, live podcasts, and more. This allows Krause House to fully become its own "ESPN" for any future teams we acquire. Pre-team ownership, this Quiz Show can be used to grow the Krause House community and bring more awareness to the brand.

Opportunities Beyond a Humble Discord Bot

The Discord quiz show was helpful to show that this general concept was something the community really desired. Building a dedicated platform to host the show outside Discord creates many new opportunities for Krause House.

Firstly, going beyond Discord allows KH to achieve scale since the Discord quiz show is not scalable. The bot doesn’t display a leaderboard properly beyond 10 participants and the chatting interferes with the game. These things are fine when the quiz show has less than 20 people, but beyond that, the UX rapidly deteriorates. A better quiz bot could be built to address leaderboard issues, but the chatting issue is a fundamental flaw of having to host the quiz bot in a text-channel.

Secondly, building an independent product allows KH to have an offering that we can bring to future sports teams that we own and operate. The quiz could be white-labelled for whichever team we own. Hosting the quiz show outside Discord, as either a web app or mobile app, reduces the barrier to entry. Many people are not familiar with Discord and even after joining don’t pay close attention to what happens within the server. This is evident by the lack of engagement within Krause House’s channels. Removing the Discord prerequisite makes this an easy way for an individual to stay in-touch with a community on a low-commitment but consistent basis.

Finally, hosting the quiz show outside Discord creates monetization opportunities. While the quiz show can be used for future KH-controlled teams, it can also be created as an offering for other teams and DAOs that are unaffiliated with Krause House or basketball. Additionally, there are opportunities to generate cash from upsells, advertisements, sponsorships, and more, that can’t be achieved within Discord.

Target Audience

This app will be for the online-native NBA fan hardcore enough to be talking smack on Twitter. The target audience of the quiz show overlaps with the segment of Krause House that joins the DAO for the opportunities to socialize and meet people passionate about basketball (as opposed to the segments that join to learn about web3 or contribute labor).

Delivery Details

Before January 1st, the product team will deliver an MVP of this app that allows users to:

  • Input an email address for future communications and reward fulfillment
  • View a livestream of a quiz show host
  • Select answers to a quiz question
  • Chat with other live viewers
  • View a leaderboard for the quiz

Additionally, the app will:

  • Allow an admin to upload questions via a password protected dashboard

When these delivery details are met, Greg will be allocated compensation according to the budget section above. Greg will track his time spent on this individual product and be paid a daily rate depending on the number of days worked.

Dynamic NFTs

Details and Purpose

Krause House is in a strong position to explore and experiment with the nascent space of dynamic NFTs.

Dynamic NFTs are something that are becoming increasingly prevalent and seem to be the next frontier of the NFT landscape. They allow the gamification of collectibles and the ability to give people an increased stake in the outcomes of games.

The Golden State Warriors originally laid the foundation for this and how it can be done within regulatory guidelines (https://gswnft.com). This is a concept that we have heard other NBA teams are interested in and it's also something the NBA has already dipped their toe into with their "The Association" NFTs.

We'd like to build out a working site to sell dynamic NFTs (as a proof of concept and compliance sandbox) while building the rails for this feature to be applied to In The Lab, Heat Check, and any future NBA teams (or other teams). This could be a way to bring huge value to a future NBA team and can in the meantime be used to generate revenue for Krause House.

In The Lab (ITL) has already expressed serious intent in doing a dynamic NFT project with Krause House and recently signed a partnership agreement making KH one of their official web3 partners.

Business Opportunities

There are two ways these Dynamic NFTs can make money for Krause House.

  1. Traditional and straightforward: as a consumer-facing web2.5 product, these NFTs could be sold to people to generate profit for the DAO. It’s natural to believe that selling NFTs in a crippling bear market is doomed to fail, but this product is not being built to rely on the speculation that drove the prices of previous NFT projects. The idea here is to deliver value to consumers and to gamify outcomes in ways that have not been previously possible due to regulations. NFTs are simply the vehicle that allows this idea to be compliant.
  2. B2B: this product could be sold as an enterprise solution to various entertainment companies. In The Lab has already expressed interest in using Dynamic NFTs for their influencer basketball games and some of their other consumer brands. Much in the same way that GSW had success with this concept, we could bring this to other sports teams as a new and unique way to generate location-agnostic revenue from their fan base.

Target Audience

This app will be for NBA super fans that are looking to get more involved in the outcomes of their favorite teams or players. The specific type of fan will depend on the outcome being attached to the NFT. NFTs based on team outcomes (such as the concept linked above) have shown based on some feedback in the DAO to be most appealing to fans characterized by being loyal to one specific team, owning that team’s NBA merchandise, and betting or playing fantasy sports. The audience may shift slightly if the product pivots to focus on player outcomes.

Delivery Details

Before February 1st, the product team will deliver an MVP of this app that allows users to:

  • Create an account where NFT rewards will be fulfilled
  • Buy NFTs with a credit card and custodial wallet
  • Unlock rewards based on external conditions + NFT holdings
    • Pick rewards from a list of options
  • Login to view progress towards receiving their reward

Additionally, the product team will:

  • Create a compliance document detailing the limitations of dynamic NFTs based on regulatory requirements

When these delivery details are met, Greg will be allocated compensation according to the budget section above. Greg will track his time spent on this individual product and be paid a daily rate depending on the number of days worked.

Responsibility Clause

If any emergent work for NBA teams arises, the team will be available as needed related to NBA ownership acquisitions.

If an opportunity presents itself, members of the product team may need to reallocate 10-90% of their time and would be impossible to predict currently.

Product team members will prioritize work necessary to purchase a share in an NBA team. While funded members will attempt to continue these projects, time allocation will lean towards an NBA opportunity. In the event such an opportunity arises, Trik will continue his stream while Greg will submit a new proposal detailing the deliverable he works towards.
