Grant Stewardship Team ability to leave a comment on a Snapshot proposal (expires after 3 months)

Voting ended almost 4 years agoSucceeded

Proposal

Grant the Stewardship team the ability to leave a brief comment on any Snapshot proposal.

Context

The Stewardship team are currently delegated powers and responsibility to veto unclear or blatantly malicious proposals moving to Snapshot. This proposal advocates that we grant the Stewardship team the ability to leave a brief comment on any Snapshot proposal in order to give voters more context on the proposal. This power can be re-delegated by proposal, and the holder of this power is not allowed to transfer it without community approval.

Intention

The Stewardship team is meant to act merely as a safety mechanism to prevent unclear or blatantly malicious proposals from moving to Snapshot. However, we believe that voters view Snapshot proposals as already having significant support from the community. This is not necessarily the case. By allowing the Stewardship team to write a brief comment on a proposal, we can give voters more context on the vote, without needing to compromise on the openness of the proposal system as it exists now.

What if the Stewards don’t agree?

Stewards must be in full alignment about the comment. One veto on the comment is sufficient to block it. This is meant to ensure that the team acts only in clear cases.

Example

Someone submits a proposal asking for an inordinately large sum of money for some deliverable while other Jerry’s are willing to do the work for significantly less. The proposal is clear and specific, so the Stewards should, and do, move this to Snapshot; however, it does not include the context that others are willing to do the same work for less. By leaving a comment on the proposal, the Stewards can inform voters as to the context to better inform the vote.

Reversibility

Community members can submit a proposal to remove this power from the Stewardship team at any time. In addition, the Stewards team can remove themselves from this position. However, they cannot transfer it to another party.

Inclusion

Note, Jerry’s who have relevant information or context about a proposal can and should reach out to a Steward such that a comment can be left. For instance, if a Jerry has knowledge and examples of a specific proposer’s relevant misconduct, they are encouraged to let the Stewards team know.
