The Krause House Writers Cohort
Author: grant#2959
Krause House partners with Taptive to run a 3-week white-labeled writing program (ex: the KrauseHouse Writers Cohort). The program will achieve two goals:
$3,000 USDC
The funds will be sent to grant#2959 to plan, develop, and operate the program
Summary:
Krause House to partner with Taptive to plan, develop, and operate a 3-week cohort-based writing program for the community.
Participants will write and publish a 500-word post every week for 3 weeks. Each week, participants will meet live on Zoom to share their writing, give and receive feedback, and connect.
By the end of the cohort:
Taptive has run 30 cohort-based writing programs for over 15 organizations helping writers publish 1,000+ essays.
Our step-by-step process to plan, develop, and operate a successful cohort for Krause House
We start the process with a Project Launch call with the KH team.
During this call, we'll better understand how to message the program to the community, and we'll discuss potential customizations you want to make to the program.
Also, we will agree to a cohort Kickoff date and time that works for your community.
We will work with the Krause House team to give writers prompts and a theme that furthers Krause House’s mission.
Some example prompts and themes:
Next, we'll design a landing page for the program.
We will provide you with the landing page, additional copy to use on social media, and a multi-channel marketing plan to start to get the word out.
Here's an example of a past landing page.
Taptive will run its tested onboarding process to start the cohort. Onboarding is critical to the cohort experience as it communicates the goals, expectations, process, and logistics required to align all cohort participants.
Also, onboarding will include an invite to the Krause House Writers Cohort Learning Home created by Taptive.
The Learning home includes all resources participants will use during the cohort. (Leaderboard, Calendar, Cohort & Feedback Champion Competitions, Feedback Guide, Feedback Form, Live Meeting Recordings, Taptive’s The Publishing Process, >20 pages of Taptive Writing Tips).
We've created over 20 pages of content to help writers write. You can read examples of the content here. During the cohort, this content is shared with writers in a daily, digestible format.
On the last day of Onboarding, Taptive will lead a Kickoff Meetup to start the cohort. We’ve run many Kickoff meetings and have an agenda that supports people in the writing journey.
Asynchronous discussion is an important part of the cohort experience. Cohort participants will chat in a separate channel in the Krause House Discord.
Taptive will facilitate discussions in the channel.
Once the cohort is launched, the cohort will run on a consistent, weekly cadence. This is intentional — the more simple the weekly cadence, the more writers can focus on writing.
Here is an example weekly cadence (though this will likely change based on our agreed-upon schedule):
Taptive ensures that writers are able to follow this cadence by sending a Weekly Summary with links throughout the week.
Each week, Taptive will organize a space to meet live on Zoom. These Live Meetups last 1 hour and take place on the same day and time each week of the cohort.
The focus of the Live Meetups is 1:1 feedback on writing and community discussion (based on the previous week’s writing).
Taptive has a minute-by-minute agenda for these meetings. However, prior to the meetings, we will work with your team to determine the best use of time for the meetings.
The cohort concludes with the live Celebration Meetup following the publication of the final post.
During Celebration Meetup, among other activities, Taptive will announce the winners of our Cohort Champion Awards and the Feedback Champion Award.
Also, participants will complete a reflection survey and share personal wins from the experience.
Following the Celebration Meetup, Taptive will send a final email of the cohort sharing the award winners and the next steps.
After the cohort concludes, Taptive and the Krause House team will debrief on the cohort.
Taptive will prepare a deck to share data from the cohort.
