LexDAO x MetaCartel: Sponsorship Funding for MCON III in Detroit, Michigan

Proposal Summary:

This proposal seeks approval for LexDAO to provide $5,000 in sponsorship funding for the upcoming MCON III event, to be held from September 26-28, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. This event aims to gather DAO operators, technologists, and “proponents of human flourishing” to foster collaboration and innovation in the Web3 space. The sponsorship includes various benefits for LexDAO and opportunities for active participation in the event.

Background:

MCON '21 and '22 in Denver were transformative gatherings that attracted over 1000 participants, including DAO operators, technologists, and advocates for human flourishing. These events catalyzed numerous projects and collaborations such as Public Nouns, Coordinape, Ethos, and MetaCamp. Building on this success, MCON III aims to summon the same energy and innovation spirit in Detroit, a city renowned for overcoming challenges and reaching new heights.

Additionally, MetaCartel has been a trusted and successful partner to LexDAO in the past – most recently, at our Eth Denver event Law at the Limits.

Event Schedule:

• Day 0 (Sept 25th): Intro to Web3 & Locals Gathering
• Day 1 (Sept 26th): Governance & Public Goods
  • 10:00-14:30: Keynotes, Panels, and Workshops
  • 15:00-18:00: Public Goods Afternoon (Open conversation space)
  • 13:00-20:00: Coworking @ Chroma (This may potentially be our hackathon date but we have yet to confirm)
• Day 2 (Sept 27th): Arts & Community Innovation
  • 10:00-14:00: Keynotes, Panels, and Workshops
  • 15:00-18:00: Topic-based breakouts, discussion groups, and conversation space
  • 13:00-20:00: Coworking @ Chroma Closing Party
• Day 3 (Sept 28th): Detroit Community Day
  • Coordinated local activations including food, music, and immersive art experiences

Sponsorship Details:

LexDAO will provide $5,000 in sponsorship funding to MetaCartel for MCON III. In return, LexDAO will receive:

• Branding on all printed and digital assets
• Social media partnership spotlight
• Shout out on the main stage
• Special discounted attendance rate for LexDAO members

Additional Engagement:

In addition to the sponsorship, LexDAO will collaborate closely with the MetaCartel team to organize a Hackathon during the event, potentially related to the new DUNA DAO entity (details TBD). LexDAO will also work with Yalor, the MetaCartel lead, to plan pre and post-event celebrations, enhancing the community experience and fostering further collaboration.

Past Collaborations:

LexDAO has successfully collaborated with MetaCartel in the past, notably at Eth Denver. These collaborations have yielded significant benefits for both organizations, fostering innovation and community engagement within the Web3 space.
