The Communications Committee within LexDAO will disseminate information and promote and grow LexDAO through continued development of existing and novel products and cultivation of relationships with other organizations in the web3 community.
The first step for the Communications Committee will be the creation of "Bylaws" that will define the Committee's processes for meetings, product management (including the scope of editorial oversight, active roles, and product editorial guidelines). The Bylaws will be a living document that integrates with the existing LexDAO OS and can be easily amended as the committee develops. The Bylaws will include procedures for amendment to the Bylaws, such as changes to the scope of the Comms Committee (both internally and with LexDAO's membership more broadly), and delegation of funds within the Comms Committee as set-aside by LexDAO's treasury.
The Comms Committee will rebrand the LexDAOism moniker currently active on LexDAO's substack and replace it with "LexNews+" as a comprehensive brand encompassing all Comms Committee products.
The Monthly Newsletter will be a recurring monthly publication through the LexDAO substack. The purpose of the Monthly Newsletter is to raise awareness of LexDAO's ongoing work, upcoming events, and fundraising efforts. Fortunado will continue an active role in the creation and dissemination of the Monthly Newsletter pending delegation of responsibilities to new Committee members and support from students active within LexClinic. Process documentation will be developed by the Committee for the Monthly Newsletter following the creation of Communications Committee Bylaws to clearly define recurring monthly processes for the drafting, review, editing, and publication of the Monthly Newsletter along with content and style guidelines.
The Weekly Newsletter will be a recurring weekly publication through the LexDAO substack covering timely events in crypto law, web3 generally, and related technology industries. Kyler56 will continue an active role in the creation and dissemination of the Weekly Newsletter alongside an established team. Process documentation will be developed by the Committee for the Weekly Newsletter following establishment of Bylaws to clearly define recurring weekly processes for the drafting, review, editing, and publication of the Weekly Newsletter along with content and style guidelines.
The LexNews+ Weekly Newsletter collaboration with the Law of Code podcast (sponsored by the DAO Research Collective, Lobby3, and Tally.xyz) will continue to conduct research for and produce the DAO Research Monthly podcast series with Jacob Robinson, Law of Code host. See episode one here. This collaboration will also include the publication of an essay style research accompaniment piece - with the essays being published 1 month after the release of their respective podcast accompaniment. This collaboration is managed by Kyler56 and co-host Kyle Smith.
Management of LexDAO's Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms as approved by the Committee will be handled by the Committee in accordance with the Bylaws. Nickjrishwain will continue to manage the accounts for approved social media platforms.
Managing existing relationships with other communities in web3 and active outreach to forge and grow new relationships to expand LexDAO's presence and raise awareness of the DAO's services and products. The focus of the Committee's business development efforts will be on generating additional revenue for LexDAO through additional individual and enterprise members, advertising opportunities, and potential brand partnerships with other communities.
LexDAO's Internal Resources will be actively managed by the Communications Committee. Internal Resources include internal and external communications channels and forums, a public website for LexDAO, and the Gitbook. Discord will remain the primary communication channel pending development of additional or replacement channels, if necessary.
The Communications Committee seeks an initial set-aside of $5,000 for FYQ3 from the LexDAO treasury to be allocated by the Committee according to its bylaws in furtherance of the Committee's products. The set-aside will be delegable pending approval of the Communications Committee Bylaws by the LexDAO Operations Committee as specified by the Bylaws.
