SUMMARY

This proposal is for the establishment of a DAO Ambassador Committee, composed of Lobby3 Members who operate in the capacity of “DAO Ambassadors” by representing other DAOs to which they belong. As such, each DAO Ambassador would represent a communicative bridge between Lobby3 and another DAO. This would be a largely informal committee, and would not initially grant DAO Ambassadors any special statutory powers, beyond the attribution of the Discord role “DAO Rep” and access to any server channels exclusive thereto. The role of a DAO Ambassador is to observe the operational model of Lobby3, and that of the other DAO which they represent, with the goal of identifying opportunities for the two DAOs to collaborate and solve each other’s problems.

BACKGROUND

The larger context for this proposal is the need to better integrate the DAO ecosystem, for the purpose of more efficient standard-setting practices, solution discovery, and regulation/self-regulation. Additionally, a network of DAOs which adopt this “organizational primitive” may allow for the amplification of public goods and services, aimed at incrementally realizing the vision of Web3 as a more just and robust digital commons than Web2.

As far as Lobby3 is concerned, having a DAO Ambassador program may allow us to foster ties with other DAOs in the space.

MISSION & VALUES ALIGNMENT

If the two-fold mission of Lobby3 is to foster the Web3 community and represent its interests to policymakers, this project - the internal establishment of a DAO Ambassador Committee and the encouragement of other DAOs to follow suit - may prove integral to such a mission.

First, and more immediately, establishing a DAO Rep Committee may better integrate Lobby3 into the existing DAO ecosystem by forging partnerships with other DAOs, via Ambassadors.

Secondly, and more broadly, inspiring other DAOs to adopt this technique may trigger a network effect in terms of inter-DAO cooperation, and may allow us to work toward an industry-wide coalition of aligned entities. Building out such a coherent coalition could make the prospects of Web3 political representation a more feasible enterprise for Lobby3.

Generally, if the DAO Ambassador is a member (qua token holder) of both DAOs they manage the relationship of, it seems reasonable to expect that the Ambassador would naturally be inclined to have the mutual interest of these DAOs in mind.

SCOPE OF WORK

The immediate scope of this project would consist of recruiting Lobby3 members who also belong to other DAOs, or even proto-DAOs and other less formal Web3 communities, and establishing a methodology for facilitating inter-DAO operations. Such operations are likely to be highly idiosyncratic and particular to the given inter-DAO relationship in question, and the responsibility of the DAO Ambassador would be to become familiar with both DAOs’ needs and offerings. Beyond the establishment of an internal DAO Ambassador Committee, Lobby3 may go about educating other DAOs on the process of establishing such a committee, based on our own learnings. Ultimately, the scope of this project will be ongoing, and can scale with the ambition of Lobby3. That is, in an ideal and highly ambitious situation, this project would entail the effective organization of more or less the entire Web3 community.

As for funding, this proposal is asking for no disbursements or appropriations, merely the go-ahead from the community to embark on this experimental venture. Any requests for disbursements would be specified in the proposals made by DAO Ambassadors with specific partnership opportunities in mind.

SPECIFICATION To start, the DAO Ambassador Committee will consist of the existing few Lobby3 members who have expressed interest in representing other DAOs - or rather, representing the relationships between Lobby3 and other DAOs. Doing so will require the creation of a new role in the Discord server, designating DAO Ambassadors.

Once this initial committee is formed, we will optimize the current working DAO Ambassador Application Form to facilitate the onboarding of future DAO Ambassadors.

After both the initial committee is formed and the application form configured, the existing DAO Ambassador will go about exploring collaboration opportunities that exist between Lobby3 and these other DAOs. This exploration will be done on a discretionary basis, at the preferred pace of the DAO Ambassador in question. If a partnership or collaboration opportunity presents itself between Lobby3 and a given DAO, the DAO Ambassador overseeing this inter-DAO relationship will draft a proposal that describes the nature of this opportunity.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

The establishment of the DAO Ambassador Committee will require no disbursements from the treasury. Rather, the financial implications of this project depend on the particularities of future inter-DAO opportunities, which the pertinent DAO Ambassadors will describe in greater detail upon such occasions.

BRAND USAGE

The DAO Ambassador Committee has implications in terms of brand usage, seeing as any given DAO Ambassador will be expected to adequately represent Lobby3 over the course of any negotiations with another DAO. One task of the DAO Ambassador Committee may be to define a code which DAO Ambassadors must uphold in their dealings with other DAOs.

SUCCESS METRICS OR KPIS

As far as Lobby3’s interests are concerned, the success of this project will be best quantified in terms of the number of partnerships and collaborations, and qualified in terms of their success.

As far as the Web3 ecosystem’s interests are concerned, the success of this project will be best quantified in terms of the number of DAOs which adopt this organizational practice.

NEXT STEPS

Eventually, proposals may be made regarding the internal organization of the DAO Ambassador Committee, such as whether or not a chairperson is warranted, but such possibilities depend on the initial operations of the DAO Rep Committee.
