SUMMARY
Jacob Robinson hosts the Law of Code podcast, which has over 55,000 downloads and covers a variety of topics including DAO legal risks and considerations. This proposal regards the sponsoring of a new monthly episode of the Law of Code podcast, focused on the legal arena surrounding DAOs. The goal of this podcast is to provide DAO members with information on legal considerations affecting them, as well as acting as a resource for regulators with respect to DAO policy. These podcast episodes can be used by regulators to broaden their understanding of the overlap between DAOs and the law, as well as a tool for pro-crypto groups to share with lobbyists and regulators. With the Ooki DAO case, the question of tokenholder liability has taken on a greater urgency and reality, and an array of questions and uncertainties have been elevated beyond academia and into the realm of practice and risk management. This podcast aims to steward education on critical topics like this.
BACKGROUND
Jacob Robinson has experience creating high-quality content around web3 law, and he will be aided by the experience and expertise of the LexDAO Clinic and Around The Blockchain 1 researchers.
The DAO Research Collective, along with Tally, will operate as sponsors of equivalent amounts as what is being proposed here.
MISSION & VALUES ALIGNMENT
This podcast aims to accelerate the education of web3 participants and entrepreneurs, along with relevant regulators and policymakers. If we want the civic and coordinative promise of DAO technology to be realized, there needs to be nuanced public policy, and such policy can be informed by educational, accessible content such as this. For example, SEC Commissioner Hester Pierce is both a listener and guest of the podcast, while congressional staffers are now attending weekly LexDAO study groups to observe the dialogues there and gather intelligence to inform legislation.
SCOPE OF WORK
Lobby3 sponsors these podcast episodes to provide funding to aid in its production. The podcast episodes will provide a media vehicle to help promote the values of Lobby3, and will also allow certain Lobby3 representatives to appear on episodes.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
Lobby3 will contribute $400 US (or the equivalent in ETH) per episode, for a 5-episode runway, totaling $2,000.
After this runway, Lobby3 may propose an additional sponsorship sum.
BRAND USAGE
Lobby3 will be mentioned as a sponsor during the episode, in the show notes, and on twitter, along with DAO Research Collective and Tally.
SUCCESS METRICS OR KPIS
Listener engagement, as a standard for podcasts, can be a useful success metric for this podcast. Additionally, we would also hope that regulators, policymakers, or any other covered officials would listen to this podcast and regard it as a sophisticated source of industry knowledge. Finally, we also hope that this podcast can become a tentpole in the larger conversation about DAO law, and help strengthen this movement in terms of legal nuance and literacy.
NEXT STEPS
Disburse $2,000 worth of ETH to the designated wallet for this podcast, and assign loose producer-like responsibilities to Saulthorin and/or Clinamenic, who may also make appearances on the podcast to promote Lobby3 projects.
