SUMMARY

As we are scoping out the roadmap for DeVox, being able to have an IRL event to discuss it and rally around it could be a great way to galvanize momentum.

A group of us would split a rental for ETH Denver event, and during one of those nights we would host an informal side event focused on DeVox: brainstorming around it, troubleshooting some of the early obstacles, and honing the its messaging and presentation.

We would extend the invitation to any Lobby3 Legacy members who are attending ETH Denver, as well as any other thought leaders in this emerging space of Decentralized Civics, or DeCiv. In addition to bolstering the vision of DeVox, this event would hopefully also constitute a step toward clarifying what the DeCiv space is all about.

BACKGROUND

Originally I (Clinamenic) was planning on splitting a place with some friends at JournoDAO, and then one of us had the idea to invite people from other groups. I reached out to a few other people, including Aphilos Pharo, who had the idea for a DeVox event.

We realized this could be a great opportunity for the people behind this idea of DeVox, both inside Lobby3 and outside, to strengthen their relationships via IRL bonding events. It could also be a good way to promote Lobby3’s mission among the nascent milieu of DeCiv and the DAO space at large.

Receiving some small amount of funding from the Lobby3 Legacy Community Treasury would help us by giving us an actual budget for the event, and also covering some of our rental expenses in exchange for our work for and around the event.

MISSION & VALUES ALIGNMENT

Being able to communicate Lobby3’s mission and values, through DeVox as a flagship project, will be much more potent than the sort of remote communications we’ve been mostly relying on so far. If we can take the D.C. event as an indicator, IRL events like this can have a profound impact on solidifying the vision and bonding the team behind Lobby3.

SCOPE OF WORK

We would set a date for this event, and create an RSVP list. The event will likely have to be limited to Lobby3 Legacy DAO members, and other key actors in the surrounding DAO/DeCiv space, because the event will be at a rental location in downtown Denver.

A good portion of this event will be in the casual spirit of business, with the priority being to calibrate and clarify our collective vision for how to define the DeVox roadmap and what role we want DeVox and Lobby3 to play in the emerging DeCiv space.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

We are asking for $3,500 in ETH to be greenlit for disbursement, to help us cover the cost of the rental. In exchange, we will organize the event, with the goal of advancing the project of DeVox, and engage in mission-aligned networking over the course of our time there. Part of this will consist of communicating with key strategic partners, new and existing, about how DeVox can work at the ecosystem level.

If for whatever reason we are not able to host the event, the $3,500 worth of ETH will not be spent, or will be refunded to the treasury if any of it has been spent.

BRAND USAGE

Lobby3 branding may be used in any private RSVP materials, or promotional materials after the event. The event will be an official Lobby3 event, but will not be an official ETH Denver event.

Depending on expenses, we may opt to have some swag for the event. At the bare minimum, a commemorative POAP-like badge can be designed and distributed to attendees who wish to claim it.

SUCCESS METRICS OR KPIS

A successful event would entail any or all of the following:

Greater clarity within the Lobby3 core team, with respect to the DeVox project. The establishment of key strategic partnerships with other DAOs and web3 projects. We will be splitting the rental with builders from LexDAO, JournoDAO, DAO Research Collective, and maybe others. Simply occupying the same space for multiple days will provide ample opportunity to brainstorm about DeVox, to say nothing of the event dedicated to such. Contact made with interested and capable developers, who may wish to apply for the eventual DeVox Request for Proposal (which is among the next few proposals on the docket for the Lobby3 Legacy DAO).

NEXT STEPS

By voting in favor of this proposal at the draft stage, you are also accepting that the active proposal will make use of the quadratic voting method, in addition to a sybil-resistant whitelist of all tokenholders at the moment this draft proposal is posted. This measure is being taken in the interest of protecting the decentralized integrity of the Lobby3 Legacy DAO, in light of recent plutocratic circumstances.
