3. Simple Summary

This proposal redesigns the wearables bonus to make them more compelling to committed Luchadores players, while also improving the in-game balance.

4. Context

As currently designed the wearables confer a bonus in statistics (= in-game) according to their rarity, also in case of a complete set only a bonus reward on ranked league. With the introduction of the Fight-to-Earn shortly, Luchadores will be able to earn LUCHA reward depending on their performance in their arena, measured by the ELO/Reputation:

  • Max daily reward means in case of 3 win - divide by 3 for 1 win gain
  • The bonus reward and reputation gained is relative to your ranking and your opponent's ranking: Ex : If you have 1650 reputation, you will earn 2 LUCHA per win (6 LUCHA / day in case of 3 victories) if you face an opponent of your category, a little more if he is above, a little less if he is below!

5. Goals

Although the stat gap between two luchadores — equipped or naked — will be further balanced with the training scrolls, it seems better to establish clear principles at this early stage to ensure a good in-game balance as the game progresses.

Usually in video games, the rarer an item is, the better are its stats. Yet, in a world where wearables can be sold/bought by the players this system comes close to a pay-to-win mechanism — remember Diablo3 € Auction House?

To address this inherent tension, we’re suggesting a rework of the wearables bonuses. The base idea is to distinguish between the game and the para-game:

a. The game is when you are in the arena: your stats, skills, etc. b. The para-game is everything around: LUCHA earnings, number of games per day, earning per wins, cosmetics, etc.

This proposal suggestsreworking the wearables bonuses to affect the para-game only, helping to make the game fairer.

If implemented, wearables will make no difference in the arena by themselves, but for the style. However, committed and active Luchadores players will benefit from having wearable sets equipped to enjoy more rewards or games.

6. Means

  1. Remove all the statistics bonuses currently provided by Cometh and Aztec wearables.
  2. Account for each wearable slot individually (currently only fullsets bring bonus reward).

Implement para-game bonuses for wearables:

  1. % Bonus Reward per wearable — scaling with rarity
  2. Bonus Voting Power per wearable — scaling with rarity
  3. Fullset bonus with additional games per day — scaling with rarity

7. Metrics

Currently:

  • Common item bring +1 stat & fullset 20% bonus reward
  • Uncommon item bring +2 stats & fullset 40% bonus reward
  • Rare 1 item bring +3 stats & fullset 60% bonus reward
  • Epic item bring +4 stats & fullset 80% bonus reward
  • Legendary item bring +5 stats & fullset 100% bonus reward

Modalities:

  1. The proposed bonus reward only applies to ranked league winnings
  2. To get the bonus reward bonus you must be equipped with 5 wearables on the 5 existing slots: helmet, torso, gloves, bottom and boots
  3. The bonus applied is the one of the wearable with the lowest rarity

Proposal:

Common wearable brings:

  • +5% bonus reward per wearable
  • +0.2 voting power per wearable
  • Fullset allows for one extra game per day (7 per week)

Uncommon wearable brings:

  • +10% bonus reward per wearable
  • +0.4 voting power per wearable
  • Fullset allows for one extra game per day (7 per week)

Rare wearable brings:

  • +15% bonus rewardper wearable
  • +0.6 voting power per wearable
  • Fullset allows for one extra game per day (7 per week)

Epic wearable brings:

  • +20% bonus reward per wearable
  • +0.8 voting power per wearable
  • Fullset allows for two extra game per day (14 per week)

Legendary wearable brings:

  • +25% bonus reward per wearable
  • +1 voting power per wearable
  • Fullset allows for two extra game per day (14 per week)

Modalities:

  • a. The bonus reward still applies only to ranked league winnings

  • b. From the first equipped wearable you get a bonus reward

  • c. The fullset bonus applied is the one of the wearable with the lowest rarity (NEW)

8. Forward-thinking considerations

This proposal introduces a new base principle that could inform further proposals: the distinction between the game and the para-game.

Wearables bonuses could also be restricted to para-game bonuses only as a design principle if the community so wish. We would need to discuss and figure out the best infrastructure to handle the collaborative elaboration and enforcement of the principles.

Potentially controversial sub-components of this proposal (such as the voting power bonus) can be discussed on Discord. Sentiment check polls can also help to determine which sub-components should be included at this stage.
