#18 Should we create Meepets?

Last week, we launched Meekicks, a derivative NFT collection based on the voxel shoes worn by all Meebits. This launch demonstrated our ability to successfully launch a collection that creates value for Meebits holders and the potential for secondary revenue for the MeebitsDAO.

Meekicks was just the first step. The larger ambition is to create a derivative NFT collection called Meepets based on the Meepets t-shirt trait. With Meepets, we seek to honor the aesthetic of the original Meebits collection, highlighting many of the Meebits traits, while being distinct, novel, and fresh.

When minting a Meepet, you will be able to select a pair of Meekicks in your collection. The Meepet will then mint wearing those shoes. This helps to give value to the Meekicks collection while allowing a holder to increase the value of the Meepet at the time of mint. Plus, your Meebit and Meepet can be wearing the same shoes.

Meepets will be an NFT companion to Meebits that can be used in metaverse games and applications. You might be able to ride your Meepet, or it will pair to your avatar and walk alongside you. The initial metaverse partner for this launch is Webaverse and we will explore building out a game quest to be completed with your Meepet to create real metaverse utility from Day 1. All Meepet NFTs will come with VOX, FBX, and GLB file downloads.

With the recent decline of the value of ETH, launching an original NFT collection is the best opportunity for the MeebitsDAO to generate revenue through primary and secondary sales in the hopes of achieving sustainability.

The Meepet collection will have 5000 NFTs (ERC-721) that reflect the Meebit types:

• Piglet
• Baby Elephant
• Meepet Robot
• Meepet Skeleton
• Meepet Visitor
• Meepet Dissected

There will be 3 mint phases to Meepets:

1. All MeebitsDAO members are Allowlisted for Early Access mint (MeebitsDAO Founders get one free mint)
2. Mint opens to Meebit holders
3. Public mint

Timeline: 3-6 months

Budget: This project will cost $100K - $200K. The largest expense is related to the tech development associated with generating and minting your Meepet with your Meekicks. We will explore how to minimize costs while continuing to create innovative functionality.

Initial funding requested: $25,000 for first phase of artistic design.
