Decentraland Land Development

The Metaverse Dev Group has started prototyping the MGH 1x1 land in Decentraland. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the exterior design draft we created some time ago: https://twitter.com/mgh_metadev/status/1473650033400729602?s=20

Project Goal The goal for Mid-February is to build the depicted exterior from the draft and design and build a first version of the sphere’s interior. We plan an interior with two floors, the first floor being an information hub, providing some basic useful information about MGH and tips around Decentraland for its visitors. The second floor will be a socializing place with a small bar. We will use custom made assets for this combined with standard assets where feasible. We will also enrich the experience with some puzzles and additional things to play around with and explore for a more worthwhile experience.

The end result will be uploaded to Decentraland onto our spot at 66,-48 and will be open for everybody to visit.

Benefit This project is a big first step towards our future in Decentraland. MGH community members will finally have a place to gather in the Metaverse and visitors will get in contact with and learn about MGH. Also with this first MGH building set-up, we will gather valuable insights for further development.

Risks There's some notable limitations when building on a land, especially on small land (see here: https://docs.decentraland.org/development-guide/scene-limitations/). This could mean that not everything that we are planning is actually doable. We will have to learn to build around these limitations.

Following Steps Maximize space usage by adding additional floors. Improve the interior with more custom made furniture and decorations. Add more things to explore and interact with. Steadily increase the quality of information provided to visitors. More tbd.

Vision In our vision, the MGH spot in Decentraland will be recognized as a main contact point for newcomers and regular visitors alike. A valuable guide for everyone, a space to socialize, and an interesting place to explore.
