Metaverse Dev Group - February Projects

Voting ended about 4 years agoSucceeded

The Metaverse Development Group is constantly growing with a new member joining on February 1st and two new members joining mid-February. That makes a total of nine people working for our projects, eight of which are excellent and chosen students from the Aachen University of Applied Sciences and the Fresenius University in Cologne. Working part-time to full-time, depending on their current workload in the university. From now on, we will do monthly snapshots for the whole team, rather than dividing the projects into separate snapshots. Everybody in our team comes with their own skill set so we don't always work strictly on seperate projects.

Project overview for February

DCL-Edit

We have had tremendous success with DCL-Edit in the last weeks. DCL-Edit is our scene builder that works in parallel with the Decentraland SDK. We managed to connect to the top developers and decision makers in the Decentraland development team and acquired full support for the project. In the coming weeks we will elaborate the structure of an universal framework for the creation of Decentraland experiences within this team. Also the first version of DCL-Edit is being released by the end of this month that will already significantly improve and accelerate the workflow of any Decentraland developer. This will make it much more appealing to start creating experiences for Decentraland overall.

Staff Allocation: 1-2

Nothingworld

We are currently designing and prototyping our own Metaverse, codename “Nothingworld”. The goal is to deliver a Metaverse that offers exciting gameplay, Play2Earn, and an economy that will allow everybody to enter this Metaverse at a very low cost. Also we are focussing on maximizing feasibility for this project, i.e. maximize the chance to launch early and minimize risk of failure. There are so many mind-blowing Metaverses being announced, many of which are likely to take years of development with a high risk of delay or failure, which even holds for strong teams that are backed by strong partners. We’re seizing the opportunity to enter the Metaverse space as early as possible to get a significant advantage over the arising competition.

A first gameplay prototype is scheduled for later this month. Stay tuned for updates!

Sandbox - Snoop Dogg Land

Building for the Sandbox also has a high priority in our team. As you most certainly know, our community has acquired 5 lands and one 3x3 estate in the Sandbox. That’s a lot to build for and we want to fill those lands with life as soon as possible. In February, we will refine our Snoop Dogg spot that we prototyped earlier. This includes not only building the environment, but also designing and creating suitable assets and quests.

Staff Allocation: 3-5

Somnium Space

As you can see in our treasury, we have an XL parcel in Somnium Space and a Medium World. One of our new team members will focus on prototyping for this parcel and world. This includes a thorough check of what is actually possible in Somnium Space since each Metaverse comes with a set of restrictions on building and implementing logic.

Staff Allocation: 1

Decentraland

We’re still to deliver for Decentraland what we announced in a previous snapshot. Due to some delays and priority shifts, we are planning this by the end of this month. Thus, incentives for Decentraland are not included in this snapshot.

Staff Allocation: 1-2

Compensation

In our projects we calculate an average of $250 to $1.500 in $MGH per month per student as an incentive and $3.500 to $5.000 per month per full-time specialist, depending on their experience and skill level. The development lead gets an extra of $1.000 as a compensation for the additional workload and the extra time spent on project management.

In total, we kindly ask for an incentive of $12.750 in $MGH for our work in February.
