Community Reignition Proposal Through Consolidated Roles and Accountability
Date: 2025-01-05 Author: TheFireConvoy (TheFireConvoy@gmail.com) TLDR Monkz has stalled due to the absence of active leadership, despite ongoing spend. I propose consolidating three roles into a single Community & Education Director role—filled by me, TheFireConvoy—at $2,750/month instead of $5,500/month. This delivers clear leadership, measurable accountability, renewed community engagement, and consistent events through July 1, 2026, with 50% less in DAO spend for the three roles. This is a low-risk, high-upside opportunity to restart Monkz with disciplined execution and transparency. Objective The goal of this proposal is to restart Monkz as an active and growing group through clear leadership, disciplined execution, and transparent accountability. The initial focus is restoring consistent activity and engagement, followed by sustainable growth. Community members and holders will provide regular feedback to ensure activity levels and the Monkz Action Plan remain current, effective, and aligned with our goals. Background & Problem Statement Monkz has faced persistent challenges over the past year related to community engagement, growth, and event execution. At the core of these issues is a prolonged absence of active leadership. The Community Manager role—our largest operational expense—has been effectively inactive, with duties largely unfulfilled. As a result, Monkz has experienced: Little to no community growth over more than a year No supply of guest speakers or collaborations Frequent missed meetings without notice and no notable supply of new events Nonexistent community strategy and no known recruitment activities Zero utilization of the marketing budget
Proposed Solution New Role: Community & Education Director This proposal will allow for time and resources to take action, and will ask for increased accountability with transparency about actions taken. I propose that the community manager, director of education and multimedia production, and social media manager roles shall all be consolidated. Responsibilities Urgent Creation & Ongoing Upkeep of an Agile Monkz Action Plan Community Management and Engagement Recruitment, Prospecting, & Related Marketing Brand and Social Media Development Run & Facilitate Meetings and Events Educational Initiatives, Discussions, & Presentations Accountability & Transparency Updates Cost Analysis Previous combined cost: $5,500/month ($3k community mgr, $1.5k edu. & media, $1k social) Proposed cost: $2,750/month Reduces previous monthly spend for the roles by 50% Salary reallocated from existing role budgets Marketing stipend ($300/month) remains intact Appointee: TheFireConvoy By assuming this salaried role, I am committing at least 40–50 hours per month to planning and execution. Several operating expenses to support the role will be covered entirely from the proposed salary and will not be billed to the DAO. These costs are estimated at approximately $150–$200 per month and include video and graphics editing software, AI tools (such as ChatGPT), Lucid Flowcharts, a U.S.-based cellular line for Monkz, and associated phone hardware. Local in-person recruitment and outreach will be prioritized, and in-person recruitment in more distant locations will be coordinated around pre-planned travel to reduce or avoid incremental costs related to transportation, mileage, or lodging. FireConvoy’s Qualifications I bring 20 years of experience in outside sales, prospecting, and business leadership, currently serving as a Director of Sales at a Fortune 50 company. I am a long-term Monkz associate, one of the largest holders, and have a demonstrated history of successfully executing on my commitments and initiatives for Monkz. Here is a partial list of achievements and involvement I have had in previous roles:
Holder: According to OpenSea, my wallet holds the second largest allotment of Monkz which represents my dedication and commitment to our project.
Financial Responsibility: I have always brought value to Monkz in time provided and projects. I have shown for nearly every Monday meeting for four years, drafted and advised on proposals, completed projects, and I have led, drafted, supported or taken a part in numerous actions to save the DAO money through responsible spending.
Voting Policy Design: I took the primary role in developing and proposing procedures for fair and fast proposals that balance Keeper’s input with community voting.
Graphics & Content Creation: I create graphics and video assets using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier, and other software with expenses I absorb.
OpenSea: I negotiated on Monkz behalf and at the Master Monkz approval to unlock Monkz NFTs that had been locked or red flagged by OpenSea. This ensured member NFTs remained available for use.
On-Camera Persona: I act as the face of Monkz on camera, as needed, for any zoom meetings, educational content, or promotional videos. I am willing to maintain a phone line for Monkz to support the role.
Website 2.0: I lead the planning and execution efforts behind the development of the new website to provide Monkz a means of keeping an updated public face.
Ancient Weaponz: I have produced graphics, including Weaponz Graphics Design behind the planned Ancient Weaponz mint.
Scrum Master Certifications: I designed and ran two Scrum Master Certification courses proving out a MVP for a $1000+ benefit we can train members on or sell.
Book Club: Completed several books with members including “The Art of War” and “The Art of War for Women”, “Thick Face Black Heart” and “Scrum The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time”. I also have plans to leverage local business schools to seek new Monkz membership in person during 2026, given the weak NFT environment.
