Reason to Collect

Terraforms is a high watermark for fully on-chain multiplayer ERC-721s, and is positioned to become a keystone collection over the next 2-5 years.

The collection consists of 9,907 on-chain metaverse land tokens with deep property systems and built-in multiplayer elements. Namely, any terraform can be converted once-and-forever into a canvas for holders and artists to paint whatever they want. This process is called “Daydreaming,” and the contract includes a collaborative mechanic to incentivize it. Unless 500 terraforms are changed to daydreaming the entire castle will be destroyed. Fortunately, this threshold has already been reached and the castle has been saved.

Terraforms is also one of the most sophisticated examples of fully on-chain, procedurally generated NFTs. The art is based loosely on No-Stop City, a project from 1969 which, “imagined an endless, generative city built on an adaptable grid.”

Fingerprints recently entered Terraforms becoming the 4th largest holder. Their short twitter thread does a good job of explaining their reasoning: https://twitter.com/FingerprintsDAO/status/1493326994926415872?s=20&t=haucHoE-uqsmPsezHuuNSQ

Multiplayer’s Criteria

The project has a strong collaborative and/or social component 4/5 Daydreaming, the collaborative castle-saving mechanic, and the longer term metaverse potential are all innovative, powerful multiplayer mechanics. While Daydreaming itself is a fairly “singleplayer” activity on-chain, off-chain it is inspiring holders to collaborate with and commission artists.
The project defines its own protocol 4.5/5 Terrain → Daydreaming, and most importantly introduces a sophisticated protocol for user created on-chain artwork. As a metaverse project, its deep property system also establishes a standard for future use and development.
The project is on-chain 5/5 Incredible execution, a high watermark for procedurally generated on-chain art and assets.
Does the project introduce novel mechanics and push the boundaries of Ethereum / smartchains? 5/5

Strategy

Our strategy will depend on budget, but the key strategy goals are to acquire:

  1. High rarity, terrain-mode terraforms near floor (especially levels 4, 5, 9, 12, and 17)
  2. A Level 5 terraform. Level 5 is a medium-rarity level that has emerged as the “Divine Robes” of Terraforms.
  3. Other special Terraforms: Lithos, Biome 39s, and Spines

2Ξ Budget (5% of treasury)

A 2eth budget will mean acquiring 1 more near-floor terraform now, and refunding alxi for the Level 12 acquired before the recent price action that saw the floor grow from ~0.4 to just under 1eth (currently around 0.7eth). This will leave ~0.4 eth after transaction fees which we can use for offers or wait and see if the price comes back down.

5Ξ Budget (12.5% of treasury)

With a larger budget we will be able to Dollar Cost Average into floors over a longer time-frame and make offers to acquire a Level 5 at a price target of 1eth.
