Q3 2022 Budget Proposal

Voting ended over 3 years agoDefeated

Summary

This proposal seeks to outline a budget for rewarding the SubDAO leads and core contributors during Q3 2022:

  • Q3 '22 budget will be a total of $200k USD for SubDAO leads and contributors. - ~$130,000 in NEWO was paid out during Q2. - This will be funded by the $NEWO held in the treasury.- SubDAO leads will be paid on a quarterly basis, and contributors will be paid on a monthly basis, or at the end of the project - whichever is longer. - Budgets will be introduced on a quarterly basis, effectively having 3 month "epochs".

Abstract

If adopted, this will streamline New Order contributor compensation through the following steps:

  • Establish that compensation will be primarily issued in the same baseline mechanism and consisting of payouts in $NEWO tokens.- Assigned SubDAO leads will be responsible for collaborating and supporting contributors, managing project tasks, setting and proposing bounties, tracking deliverables, and issuing contributor compensation.- Contributors will align with SubDAO leads and submit regular progress updates as required by their respective projects or bounties. This will be done via internal tooling like Notion Hubs that have been set up to track progress of work and used as a reference point during payment periods.

Contributor Budget

  • The total budget is to be a value of $200k USD in $NEWO tokens.- The goal is to stay as lean as possible and NOT spend the entirety of the budget by the end of the 3-month period.- This will be allocated by SubDAO leads to particular projects and use cases over the 3 month duration based on the needs of the DAO as a whole.

SubDAOs & SubDAO Leads

The following members in the table below are a mix of early members that were critical in the launch/growth of the DAO and are invited to be SubDAO leads:

Payout Mechanisms

SubDAO Lead Payments

The SubDAO leads will be receiving quarterly payments in NEWO to undertake their roles as stewards for the project. These payments would be distributed at the end of the quarter and would be contingent on SubDAO lead performance.

Note:* if a SubDAO lead already has a vested token allocation, they do not receive quarterly payments in NEWO and are just compensated in stables for stewardship.*

Project Work

  • SubDAO leads will assign budgets to projects in each epoch.- Projects can submit proposals to the SubDAO leads as requests for funding.- Project contributors will then self-organise, dividing up the allotment between participants via a project-based Coordinape circle.- Once finalised, SubDAO leads will distribute the agreed amount of compensation to project contributors through Dework, and/or Sablier.

Tracking Project Contributions

  • SubDAO leads will help administer project-based Coordinape circles to track contributions.

Note: *Not all projects require Coordinape circles as some projects have pre-defined compensation or consist of < 2 members. *

  • Who can participate?

DAO members can contribute to multiple projects and therefore, partake in multiple Coordinape circles. SubDAO leads can issue GIVE tokens in each projects Coordinape circle to different contributors, but will NOT be eligible to receive GIVE tokens.

  • When do the circles take place?

Once a project nears its completion, all contributors would be invited to a Coordinape circle where they can allocate GIVE tokens to other team members based on their performance.

  • When will payments take place?

Contributor payments will be made on a monthly basis, or at project completion, whichever is longer.
