Heterosis Breeding: Options for Sustainability

After considerable feedback from the community, the DAO is re-launching this vote with added detail around the voting options and more time to vote.

MACRO: There are monthly costs associated with keeping breeding open (cloud render/compute/storage, dev hours etc.) Heterosis breeding has slowed to a level where maintaining the monthly cost to keep breeding open indefinitely is not sustainable.

COST CONSIDERATIONS:

• Monthly cost to keep breeding open: Approx $4,000

• Costs to freeze/unfreeze the collection: The estimated cost for freezing/unfreezing the collection ranges from $4K to $4.5K USD, covering the hours of DevOps, backend, and frontend engineers and would be done in a span of 10-14 days on the conclusion of the vote to re-open breeding again.

Please note that unfreezing the collection after a freeze will amount to approximately $4K to $4.5K, in addition to the monthly cost of $4K to keep the breeding going.

OG.Art has committed to covering the cost to keep breeding open until Aug 13th, 2023, along with costs for the initial freezing of the collection. Future costs to fund any subsequent unfreezing/freezing/breeding extension(s) of the collection can be funded by the DAO.

THREE VOTING CHOICES

CHOICE 1: Freeze - 9AM Aug 14, 2023

• Freeze the Heterosis collection starting from August 14 at 9 am EST
• No DAO funds spent.
• Any future unfreezing will be subject to a vote.

CHOICE 2: Extend - 1M to Sept 13th 2023

• Cost to the DAO treasury: $4,000 or approx. 6% of DAO funds.
• This option allows holders to plan their actions without unnecessary haste before the collection enters the next frozen period.

CHOICE 3: Extend - 3M to Nov 13th, 2023

• Cost to the DAO Treasury: $12,000 or approx. 18% of DAO funds
• This extended period affords holders the time to make decisions without undue pressure before the next frozen period.

Regardless of the vote results, a subsequent vote will be held no later than Nov 13, 2023 (approx. 3 months) to determine whether breeding will be reopened/re-extended.
