Ratifying our first principles

Background

Our community has been progressively working towards a fully decentralized structure. In order to see this vision through we must have guiding principles that all community members agree and adhere to.

Given that we have added another 2000 members to the omgkirbyDAO after our PFP drop on 6/1/22 - we will give the full community, new and old alike, the opportunity to ratify the first principles that drive our community.

Goal

The following principles are omgkirbyDAO’s guiding governance principles. We are taking the opportunity to put them to a vote to the community to see if they are passed or rejected

Logistics

Please select each of the principles you agree to in the Snpashot vote below. You are able to vote for some and not all if you so choose. Any of the first principles can be modified or expanded by the DAO Committee by a 2/3 majority vote, or by the DAO Community with a 2/3 majority of participating voting power and a 2/3 majority ratification by the DAO Committee.

omgkirbyDAO First Principles:

Decentralization:

omgkirbyDAO believes in decentralized music creation, where the artist and the community work in harmony to produce/publish new music. The community-owned resources are strategically utilized to disrupt gatekeeping mechanisms that act as barriers to entry for emerging and marginalized talent.

Artist Sovereignty:

omgkirbyDAO respects the creative sovereignty of the artist and does not decide or have ownership over kirby’s current catalog of music and future covers/remixes.

Imagining Alternatives:

omgkirbyDAO will be committed to envisioning alternative and emergent possibilities for the music industry by leveraging the collective creativity of the DAO community.

Community Building:

omgkirbyDAO activities will promote the cultivation of a dynamic participatory space facilitating stronger relationships between the artist and fans/supporters.

Incentivize Contribution:

omgkirbyDAO will foster community leadership through purpose-led initiatives that allow active participation and non-monetary contribution by members to be incentivized.

Iterative Innovation:

omgkirbyDAO aims to innovate through an inclusive, community-led process such that the DAO’s formal structure is iteratively developed based on the continual discovery of the community's needs rather than being imposed from the get-go.
