omgkirbyDAO Session 1: Initiatives

Where We Are Today

After minting 3000 omgkirby Genesis NFTs, we’ve found the following traction: 1800 NFT Holders, 2500 Discord Members, 2 Approved Proposals and we’re now the #4 (all-time) Music NFT project on OpenSea. We have executed a high-quality drop that has created a highly engaged community of LoFi lovers, MusicHeads, and Web3 Enthusiasts. Now, we need to activate the community and bring the vision for omgkirbyDAO to fruition.

Increased transparency, clear rules for participation, and a better organizational structure for community proposals & voting have been clear asks from the community. We are taking our first steps towards achieving this during Session 1 of omgkirbyDAO. Before we discuss the scope of our first session, let’s quickly revisit the vision for the project.

omgkirbyDAO Vision

omgkirbyDAO is a multifaceted web3 music project where holders can own the most valuable & advanced generative music songs, contribute to the direction of a decentralized music artist, and be a part of a community that will disrupt the music industry and provides new pathways for creators, musicians, and artists to succeed.

Our shared vision of this project is to create a community that contributes to musical and technical innovation in web2/web3 through an umbrella of activities. Serving as a positive example of what a DAO can achieve, while making an imprint in both worlds is our goal. We believe the following pillars will allow us to achieve this:

1. DAO Governance & Community Growth a. Operating a highly engaged DAO organized around committees each devoted to pillars that represent our core initiative lines. b. Creating a place for members to discuss and learn about the music industry, both in its legacy and emerging states, in order to develop a community of highly tuned-in experts. c. Good vibes - we want omgkirby to be a cool place where people can just hang, chat, and appreciate music.
2. Music Creation & Development a. Developing a best-in-class playbook for decentralized music creation, where the artist and the community work in harmony to produce/publish new music and grow the audience that is connected to them. b. Leveraging our treasury to break new talent/invest in music initiatives through grant programs.
3. NFT Curation a. Producing game-changing music NFT collections that push the envelope in terms of tech used, artists involved, and quality of music.

While the vision will continue to evolve as we make progress - we believe that there is enough meat on the bone with the above for us to begin organizing and delivering real quality that shows what we are capable of.

There are many crazy ways we can grow as we continue to successfully complete DAO sessions - like making our presence exist in both the meatverse and the metaverse, creating new forms of music vehicles, and altering the way an artist and their community collaborate & communicate.

Without getting ahead of ourselves - let’s talk DAO Session 1.

omgkirbyDAO Session 1 - Logistics

Session 1 will be a 2 month period, made up of 4 Sprints, where we deliver our first set of tangible products as a community.
Below, there’s a list of potential initiatives & deliverables that the team and the community can tackle together during Session 1. The community will rank their preferences on which 5 initiatives we undertake via Snapshot, during a 5 day voting period.

Initiatives will be undertaken by committees - composed of 1-2 team leads that are responsible for the quality and timely completion of the deliverables. Initiative leads (core team members for Session 1) are encouraged to enlist community members to volunteer on initiatives and will organize a role & channels in the Discord specific for their committee. While committees are free to structure their working style however they like, we highly recommend that each committee uses a public project management system (ex: Trello) - so the community has visibility into developments. Throughout the course of the session, committees will be expected to submit updated reports to the community.

The session will commence the day after the proposal is accepted and the following schedule will be expected:

• Week 1: Initiative leads designated and committees built.
• Week 2: Committees create short (1-2 page) proposals for initiatives and share them with the community for feedback. Snapshot voting is used if initiatives require a budget.
• Week 4: Committees deliver progress reports.
• Week 6: Committees deliver progress reports.
• Week 8: Committees present the final product at town hall and conduct post-mortem.

Following the conclusion of this period, we will regroup on each committee’s achievements, and conduct a public post-mortem to improve logistics for Session 2. Post-mortem should answer the following questions:

• What worked best in organizing your committee around delivering this initiative?
• What would you do differently if given the opportunity to redo this initiative?
• How has this initiative opened up new opportunities for the community to fulfill its vision?

DAO Governance & Community Growth DAO Governance

Initiative A: Complex voting system established

Category	Description
Deliverable	Get community buy-in and launch voting system that fits Snapshot capabilities and is able to present different quorum thresholds for various situations like proposed spend as % of treasury funds
Why	Nuance is not often captured in DAO voting. Our goal is to promote a voting system that encourages discussion & engagement
Potential Hurdles	Might be a complex learning curve for new members to the DAO, or those unfamiliar with Snapshot voting

Initiative B: Treasury Management Research Project

Category	Description
Deliverable	A report on creating a hedged, robust treasury management system that draws from best practices of existing DAOs and sets up a proposed management system for omgkirbyDAO to activate in the following session.
Why	Transparency is key for the community, and a transparent treasury represents this
Potential Hurdles	Will require some time and technical/FP&A knowledge

Initiative C: Organize Marketing Effort

Category	Description
Deliverable	A list of potential marketing agencies for future engagements & a marketing campaign with an established agency spanning social media & popular web3 media outlets (podcasts, spaces, etc)
Why	Continuing to grow our community and keep omgkirbyDAO in the spotlight will help us continue to fund future Sessions
Potential Hurdles	There are not many reputable web3 marketing agencies, cost, timing

Good Vibes Initiative D: Create KirbyCafe 1.0

Category	Description
Deliverable	Launch an interactive, token-gated website that is a digital space for Kirby members to hang out in and listen to music together
Why	Lo-fi is a diverse community that has the potential to exist in places beyond Discord. Having our own space to connect & listen to music together demonstrates the importance of lo-fi as a genre, and omgkirbyDAO as a leader in the space

Initiative E: omgkirby creates a track with high-visibility artist feature

Category	Description
Deliverable	Track published with established artist providing vocal feature (Artist should have >1mm monthly Spotify listeners) / Marketing campaign for music
Why	Building the omgkirbyDAO Music catalog will increase our exposure and our future royalty revenue

Deliverable	Album of 10 songs published to omgkirbyDAO Spotify using NFT tracks and/or community-generated covers and remixes

Initiative G: OMKGKirby Community Stem Library

Category	Description
Deliverable	Create a library of community-generated stems for artists to use in their production process - essentially a token-gated Splice for genesis holders
Why	Encourage the community to participate in musical output & create their own works!
Potential Hurdles	Make sure we have a good technical solution in place

Artist Development Initiative H: Create a grant system to help empower up-and-coming musicians.

Category	Description
Deliverable	Establish operations and philosophy of a grant system for finding consensus on how to support fledgling artists, complete one grant process with an artist
Why	We want the DAO to actively use the treasury, and the DAO has the opportunity to act as a more ethical record label for artists we deem as needing the financial assistance
Potential Hurdles	Connecting with talent, encouraging submissions, educating artists on web3

Industry Expertise Initiative I: Host an industry-focused roundtable discussion

Category	Description
Deliverable	Find a music industry topic the community wants to learn about, get 3-5 industry speakers to join the panel, host a community session to help spread knowledge of the industry to our members
Why	Educating the community on the music industry will help guide the DAO’s decision-making in the long term.
Potential Hurdles	Scheduling, making sure we have the appropriate level of music industry talent on board

NFT Curation Initiative J: Create a new omgkirby based generative music collection

Category	Description
Deliverable	Establish a premise for the launch, with a marketing plan, distributions to DAO Treasury, benefits for Genesis holders, and finalize the timeline for completion. This collection can be based either solely on omgkirby’s work or can pull in established artists/ community members as contributors.
Why	Continuation of NFT drops lead to several beneficial outcomes for the omgkirbyDAO. This includes: continued funds into the omgkirbyDAO treasury, creating further connections with real-world artists/musicians with potential generative music collabs, a further utility for the existing omgkirbyDAO members (automatic WL, select free to claim NFTs for members), expansion of the DAO (PFP project which will act as new access point NFT for omgkirbyDAO, free to claim for current members and gives the capability to expand current holder count by providing hire mint size of 5000-6000), and growth in notoriety and value in the NFT marketplace (more successful drops leads to further acknowledgment in the space)
Potential Hurdles	Saturating market and brand with NFT drops that do not add direct benefit to the community or are not novel. Potential for a drop that is not successful and could hurt the omgkirbyDAO reputation and brand.

As a final note, in the coming weeks we will lay out a schedule of events for the community to participate in. This will be orchestrated by the core team. Examples of events include:

• Weekly live music production Twitch streams with omgkirby
• Bi-weekly townhall schedule
• Monthly fireside chats with musicians and industry professionals
• Monthly vibe sesh where we listen to music together.
• WAV File Downloads on Notables portal
• Industry Handbook (almost done!); add helpful articles into an Appendix
• Casual biweekly ‘Lunch & Learn’ Sessions, where we discuss the Industry handbook in more depth
