Join us for a special Optimism Town Hall as we plan to kick off Optimism Fractal's RetroSeason and celebrate the upcoming one-year anniversary!
This week’s event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter where we'll showcase our community's achievements, explore innovative ways to measure impact, and help shape the future of RetroFunding in the Optimism Collective.
I'm excited to introduce Optimism Fractal RetroSeason, a comprehensive initiative designed to celebrate our achievements, evaluate contributions, and demonstrate the value Optimism Fractal provides to the Optimism Collective. RetroSeason will feature several key components:
RetroSeason expands our evaluation process to include contributions to Optimism Collective Governance. We'll invite public goods creators participating in RetroFunding Round 6 and create wider-reaching polls that incorporate various forms of reputation tokens, allowing diverse groups of stakeholders across the Collective to participate.
The results from both sets of polls will be compiled into a report measuring the impact of public goods creators in our community and the wider Superchain. Our goal is to assist the Collective in evaluating and rewarding contributors to Optimism Governance in Retro Funding Round 6, while enhancing mechanisms for future retroactive public goods funding.
More details about Optimism Fractal RetroSeason can be found in this draft article.
As part of RetroSeason and the anniversary celebration, we'll host Optimism Fractal RetroPitches and Retrospectives, where community members will share their experiences and contributions over the past year. Each participant will have 3-5 minutes to present a retrospective on their journey with Optimism Fractal, including personal impact, contributions, and how they've helped grow Optimism through our community.
This event, which is planned to take place at next week’s Optimism Town Hall, offers a unique opportunity to showcase Optimism Fractal's progress, demonstrate our collective achievements, and summarize how you’ve contributed to the community over the past year while celebrating our community’s anniversary together.
Following the Optimism Fractal RetroPitches, we'll host Optimism Governance RetroPitches. These events will invite public goods creators participating in RetroFunding Round 6 to present their contributions to Optimism Governance. This will provide a platform for showcasing the broader impact of projects within the Optimism ecosystem.
The design of these RetroPitches is inspired by our successful three week RetroPitches pilot program organized during RetroPGF Round 3, Eden Fractal’s first anniversary episode, and several related experiments documented in this article.
To complement the RetroPitches and retrospectives, we'll introduce RetroPolls, a new public goods evaluation system. Community members will vote with their Respect tokens on contributions to both Optimism Fractal and Optimism Governance. This will provide a democratic way to evaluate impact within our community and the wider Collective, serving as a model for RetroFunding.
This combination of RetroPitches and RetroPolls creates a comprehensive system for fair and transparent contribution assessment, potentially informing future capital allocation and RetroFunding rounds. The concept of RetroPolls is inspired by Respect Trees (and this draft design in particular), as we discussed in last week's episode of Optimism Town Hall.
Join us for the planning session this week and the upcoming RetroSeason events share your story, hear from fellow community members, and learn about exciting developments in how we measure and reward contributions to public goods. Your participation will help shape the future of both Optimism Fractal and the Optimism Collective!
Stay tuned for more details about the next initiatives in RetroSeason and how you can get involved in this exciting new chapter for Optimism. Feel free to ask questions and share feedback or related comments at this week's town hall, as the plans are still development and your input is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you at this week's events and hearing your thoughts!
