PancakeSwap is the clear market leader when it comes to low fee DEXes. However, Ethereum L2 solutions are trying to challenge BSC. For example, switching to MATIC network is as easy as switching to BSC and the user experience is very similar with even lower fees.
Luckily, there is much more users and activity on BSC. And many DEXes that are present in L2 solutions are cheap forks of Uniswap (for example QuickSwap). PancakeSwap is truly unique with its large community and responsive devs. Nevertheless, we should not underestimate the L2 solutions, and the recent pumping of MATIC shows that users value decentralization as well as low fees. There is a set of users that value decentralization and don't want to use BSC directly.
We propose that the dev team start expanding PancakeSwap to one or more L2 solutions, many of these solutions do not have a dominant DEX (such as MATIC). With Pancake's the brand name and product, I have no doubt that PancakeSwap would dominate a network like MATIC. If such an expansion requires resources, we recommend that the dev team start a fundraiser and hire new devs, we don't want to neglect BSC while doing this.
Note that the competition is already doing this, see Sushi expanding to MATIC.
Why should you vote?
Concluding remarks are that PancakeSwap's current size would allow it to easily dominate L2 solutions and beat over cheap clones. And networks such as MATIC wouldn't require much change in the code, it's just that the features would have to be adjusted to make use of cross-chain features . Other market leaders have realized this, Sushi is already planning to expand to multiple chains including MATIC. Pancake's largest competition is Sushi and likely will be Sushi for the foreseeable future. Pancake is a better product, let's keep it that way.
