Summary

Following the inclusion of Tornado Cash’s connected addresses to the SDN sanction list, and in line with the recent guidance provided by OFAC, Dexlab Inc (frontend provider appointed by PieDAO) won’t be able to keep providing the current hosting service for the PieDAO.org applicational frontend, unless by having implemented specific sanctions-screening measures. A 3 days notice was given, expiring Aug 21st 2022. After such date the current application frontend will be replaced with an informative landing page about the PieDAO project, NOT providing access to PieDAO's applications.

Passing Thresholds:

5% or more of veDOUGH supply must participate (CURRENT_SUPPLY * 0.05 = RESULT) 60% or more of participating tokens must vote FOR

Scope

A DAO governance vote will be required to define whether any sanctions screening measures (APIs) should be implemented in the current PieDAO's application frontend, to comply with the recent guidance provided by OFAC.

Should this Gate 1 result in favor of the implementation of screening APIs, a detailed budget would be defined and presented as part of the Gate 2 vote, including the API service provision by Chanalysis + the API implementation.

Risks involved

The frontend application (the one you connect the wallet to) has been hosted via Dexlab Inc. Because of the recent events, Dexlab Inc will not be able to keep hosting the application further unless sanctions-screening measures are implemented immediately. It would only be possible to host a marketing landing page, complicating the overall UX for users willing to connect to PieDAO's applications.

NOTE: PieDAO contracts are unaffected and all code of the PieDAO website is open source and could be easily self-hosted or have it run locally.

By not implementing any sanctions screening measures, PieDAO will have to fully rely on Community self-organized measures aimed at providing self-hosted frontends for all PieDAO applications.

Vote

-> FOR: Yes, PieDAO should implement sanctions screening measures to keep providing the best UX to PieDAO applications.

-> AGAINST: No, PieDAO should NOT implement any sanctions screening measures and just rely on self-hosted frontends to have users accessing its applications.

-> Detail more: I need more details to take an informed decision
