Motivation

The internet and financial infrastructure were designed for humans operating at human speed. As autonomous AI agents become active participants in on-chain markets, a new class of infrastructure is required. These agents need to transact, contract, and coordinate value at machine scale through systems that support self-sovereignty and seamless collaboration across open networks.

Pieverse has recognized this shift as a present reality. Our evolution — progressing from auditable payment rails to gasless agent-to-agent transactions and the Universal Commerce Protocol — reflects a natural maturation toward this moment. This proposal makes our direction explicit, durable, and focused.

The Pieverse Foundation formally declares the following tenets:

Agents as First-Class Economic Participants — The Pieverse protocol exists to serve autonomous agents as primary actors, not merely as an extension of human-facing finance. Pieverse will function as a resilient digital foundation purpose-built for machine-speed, machine-scale commerce.
Strategic Resource Allocation — All future Foundation priorities — including ecosystem grants, product integrations, technical support, and governance proposals — will be evaluated through an agent-native lens. Initiatives that build the public goods needed for agentic commerce to grow and flourish will be given precedence.
Core Principles — As Pieverse builds the infrastructure for autonomous agents, it will uphold the foundational principles of Resilience, Interoperability, Security, and Privacy. Pieverse will help ensure agent-to-agent commerce remains open, reliable, composable, and accessible across the global digital economy.
A Culmination of the Pieverse Mission — The Foundation recognizes that our historical work in auditable payments, gasless transactions, and compliance infrastructure has been directionally convergent with this mission. We are continuing toward the logical destination of our foundations.
