Summary
This proposal formally establishes the mission and role of Pieverse Foundation as the long-term steward of the Pieverse protocol.
Motivation
As Pieverse transitions from an early-stage project to a growing protocol ecosystem, it is necessary to define the Foundation's purpose and responsibilities in a transparent, on-record manner. This proposal is the first in a series that establishes Pieverse's governance framework.
Mission
To nurture and accelerate the Pieverse protocol as a robust, decentralized ecosystem, ensuring it remains a true public good — directed by none and useful for all.
Specification
Pieverse Foundation exists to:
- Steward the Protocol — Protect the long-term integrity, security, and sustainability of the Pieverse protocol. Acting as a guardian rather than a ruler, the Foundation ensures the protocol remains strictly independent of any single commercial entity and operates as a shared global commons.
- Support and Enable the Ecosystem — Nurture the vitality of the ecosystem by strategically allocating resources, grants, and support to developers, integrators, and partners building on Pieverse infrastructure. The Foundation aims to empower a self-sufficient community of creators, with the ultimate long-term vision of making its own centralized role increasingly unnecessary.
- Maintain Uncompromising Transparency — Operate transparently and consistently to build open, trustless communities. The Foundation commits to publishing all governance proposals and operational decisions publicly, complete with clear reasoning, ensuring that any stakeholder can fully audit the Foundation's conduct and resource allocation.
- Preserve Optionality and Adaptability — Avoid premature commitment to rigid governance structures that may not serve the protocol as it matures. By embracing pragmatism over perfection, the Foundation preserves the flexibility needed to adapt its support to contemporary ecosystem needs, community will, and evolving market demands.
