What if you could receive a "bug bounty" when you encounter a bug? This proposal involves allocating a little bit of $ from our treasury to fund an ongoing bug bounty, whereby for those of us who run into an issue we would get rewarded. Thus, instead of feeling dissatisfaction and then a sense of helplessness while waiting for the team to fix the issue, we'd feel like we're a part of the team as a tester and getting rewarded for our discovery. It doesn’t have to be too much, but just enough. Like maybe $50 paid in GAMMA per bug ($50 is used here as an example).
The added benefit for Community Building:
Acknowledgement of the fixed bug and rewarded reporter could be recognized in our routine updates to the community, showing the strength of the Planet Finance community.
Conditions:
Reporters would need to direct message the community admins to report, and the first person to report the unique bug would get the reward. Planet Finance admins wouldn't qualify for this specific allocation, because they are closer to the core team and the code, and could have a perceived unfair advantage to identify bugs. If the bug is identified and conveyed first in the main chat then the potential reward for it would be cut in half (So, $25/bug). It would need to be verifiably brought to the attention to an official admin in private to receive the full $50/bug. After opening the communication channel to the admin to express the bug, the community member could express the bug to the main chat to indicate that it has been reported.
The community can do a poll if the proposal passes to determine the exact amount of the bounty. As indicated, the $50/bug is just an example.
The added benefit of diminishing scammer activity:
This would encourage people to not express their bug issue immediately in the main chat, and lessen the frequency with which scammers try to direct message us.
Opposing View:
The trade-off would be that the money's that we allocate to bug bounty could go towards other endeavors, like marketing, or other requested special features.
With the coming of the new UI, we may not see many bugs, and so this may be additional gamma energy and admin time that could be spent on something else.
