PROP5 - A Simple Weighting Mechanism

Vote for determining the weighting mechanism for the protocol unlock game. This is based on "proposal 5" from PotionDAO discord group.

Description: Allocate weights to segments based on their relative percentage share of total secret, then divide by the amount of people who participate in the reveal event for each section.

Reveal event will run for a pre-determined amount of time - say 2 weeks. Once the time has passed:

  • If the secret has been revealed, event ends.
  • If the secret has not been revealed, the event continues until the moment it's fully revealed.

Snapshot for token distribution is taken the moment the event ends.

Pros:

  • Simple
  • Could be done retroactively
  • Scales up with segment importance and inversely with (active) redundancy

Cons:

  • Low bargaining ability vs stallers if the whole password doesn’t get revealed after the established reveal period (even though game is ensured to end after 3 months by the team)
