DeSciWorld at EthDenver 2023

### tl;dr: Unlock 12,500 USDC to fund DeSciWorld at ETHDenver.

Goal:

To appear at Schelling Point, DeSci Denver, DAODenver in specific talks and panels, providing visibility to DeSciWorld. To gain new partnerships, new preDAO funding and produce marketing materials.

Description:

DeSciWorld has been chosen to man the “Networking Table” at Gitcoin’s Schelling Point DeSci section. The Core Team has prepared a PoC of our upcoming DeSci Knowledge Graph, a partnership with Lateral.ai that visualises the connections between individual DeSci projects through a knowledge graph.

DSW has also been asked to MC the main stage of “DeSci Tooling” at DAO Denver, providing a very brief overview of the DeSci space as an introduction to the day’s speaking, and introducing the individual speakers before they enter the stage.

Further, DeSciWorld wants to cement itself as a cultural flagbearer for DeSci, pushing the spirit of design and aesthetic pleasure for science, as part of this changing scientific and academic paradigm. To do this, we have offered to handle the design, production and distribution of merchandise for the DeSci tract of DAO Denver.

The majority of US-based and many of the global DeSci community have confirmed their presence at ETHDenver 2023. A dedicated DeSci conference at DAODenver and a dedicated area at Gitcoin’s Schelling Point is an important progression for the DeSci space and DeSciWorld should be there.

Cost Breakdown:

Travel: for two Core Team members, including flights, long-stay parking, visa fees.

Accommodation: Core Team has secured two spaces in a shared DeSci house, at a cost of $800/room for 24th Feb - 6th Mar

Daily expenses: A flat rate of $100 for daily expenses which includes taxis, food, other.

Merchandise Sponsorship: DeSci Denver organisers have proposed a $5k budget for the merchandise providers. We have consulted with them and agreed that $5k will be the absolute UPPER LIMIT of spending. We aim for $3k.

Potential DeSciWorld Side Event: If there is opportunity for a low-cost, high-impact side event for the DeSci participants, DeSciWorld may choose to host one.

The 12,500 USDC unlock is proposed as a contingency should anything untoward happen and the Core Team needs emergency funding. However, it is anticipated that a decent % of this unlock will be unused and left in the treasury.

All expenditure will be tracked and recorded, with justification for use.

International travel and accommodation can be expensive but in this pivotal stage of DeSciWorld’s preDAO phase, it is considered worth it.
