Proposal Overview
The purpose of this proposal is to establish a formal governance framework that dictates how Puffer Protocol’s Restaking Node Operators (RNOs) will participate in Actively Validated Services (AVSs). This framework is designed to ensure that all decisions related to AVS participation are transparent, community-driven, and aligned with the best interests of the protocol.
Key Points:
Puffer’s RNOs are currently involved in 10 AVSs that were joined prior to the DAO’s establishment. This proposal recognizes and maintains these participations until a formal reassessment is conducted by the DAO.
Going forward, the decision to join any new AVS will require a DAO proposal and approval. This ensures community involvement in decisions related to expanding the protocol’s participation in AVSs.
Upon the activation of slashing mechanisms on EigenLayer, a reassessment of all AVSs that Puffer has joined will be triggered. The DAO will vote on whether to continue participation based on updated risk assessments.
Exiting any AVS will also require DAO approval through a formal proposal process, ensuring transparency and community oversight.
Rationale:
⁃ Enhanced Security: By requiring DAO approval for new AVS participation, we reduce the risk of involvement in insecure or malicious AVSs.
⁃ Risk Mitigation: The reassessment process ensures that AVS participation is continuously aligned with the protocol’s risk tolerance, particularly when slashing penalties become active.
⁃ Community Empowerment: This framework empowers token holders to have a direct say in critical decisions that impact the protocol.
Voting Options:
For: Approve the governance framework for AVS participation, as outlined in this proposal.
Against: Reject the proposed governance framework, retaining the current process without formal community oversight.
