FrankenDAO Technology Maintenance Budget for Q2 2023

In summary, what is this proposal about?

Since the creation of the FrankenDAO, we need to pass a technology maintenance budget to ensure our websites, applications, and smart contracts continue to run smoothly. The budget, if passed, will be used to ensure the upkeep of these platforms and infrastructure.

Quarter 2 (“Q2”) ends June 30, 2023. Quarter 1 (“Q1”) ends on March 31, 2023. This proposal will cover all of Q2 and Q1, from February 15, 2023, until March 31, 2023.

Our current technological expenses breakdown is as follows:

We use a number of APIs including, but not limited to, Infura, Alchemy, Moralis, and Sentry; the usage of these APIs currently falls under their “free” plan. This budget will include 20% padding for increased usage.

An annual expense of $160 for our domain names. The current monthly spending for infrastructure, storage, API usage, and Google Workspace is $178.50. With a padding of 20%, this brings the monthly budget to $214.20. This budget is to cover Q2 and the remainder of Q1 for a total of 4.5 months or $963.90.

James is 3D FrankenPunks’ CTO and has been the main engineer developing most of the applications and experiences you have interacted with since the creation of the project. The second part of the budget will be used to fund his work part-time for Q2 on maintaining these websites and applications.

Working part-time on the FrankenDAO was estimated at 20 hours per month, or 5 hours per week. This was calculated at $100/hour, resulting in $2,000 USD per month, or $6,000 USD for Q2.

A small additional ask for being paid for the remainder of Q1. This includes half of February and all of March. At the $2,000/mo, this adds another $3,000 to the request.

Out of scope for this budget includes large-scale technology features and unforeseen billing expenditures. If these needs arise, additional proposals will be created.

What are the goals of this proposal?

This proposal aims to ensure we continue to have smooth-running technological operations. This includes our marketing website(s), our decentralized application(s), and smart contracts. This budget will be used for Q2’23 and the remainder of Q1’23.

How does this benefit the FrankenDAO?

The FrankenDAO will continue to have an enjoyable experience for existing and new community members. The websites and applications will continue to operate as normal, allowing for the FrankenDAO to grow.

What is the execution plan?

James will move the executed funds from ETH to USDC and withdraw to pay for the billing of the infrastructure and third-party APIs. This will ensure there will be no outages from a third party due to billing issues.

James will also set up the ability to track bugs and errors on the websites and applications. Users will have the ability to submit issues or log bugs they might come across. These will be diagnosed and fixed in a timely manner.
