Quantum Biology DAO Development Proposal - 029 (QBIO DP-29)
Title: Quantum Biology DAO “Communications Budget for 2026” Proposal
Drafted text here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R6oCLV7zBmNCvw7i2zZhiOck1Tt1FzcnnuXuyk6vPjc/edit?usp=sharing
This development proposal allocates $10,000 for the Quantum Biology DAO’s 2026 operations budget, which includes the $6,000 previously allocated to the Quantum Biology DAO’s website. This budget will cover web hosting costs, API costs, conference travel and fees, and other expenses related to DAO communications. Actual expenses will be reported to the DAO.
The Quantum Biology DAO’s annual budget for 2026 (DP-23) was blocked in Feb 2026. Subsequently, the DAO is seeking to pass budget items individually.
In May 2026, a proposal was passed to allocate $6,000 to a website update (DP-26). This proposal, which is meant to subsume that one, is modeled on the Operations Budget request for 2026 (DP-27).
This item was requested by one of the DAO co-founders, Geoff Anders, and the current DAO Media Director, Kyra Gardner.
1. Approval of $10,000 for DAO communications. $10,000 USDC will be allocated from the DAO treasury to the “2026 Communications Budget.”
2. 2026 Communications Budget used for communications-related expenses. Funds from the 2026 Communications Budget will be used to cover DAO expenses related to communications, which include website and email hosting, API costs, conference travel and fees, and other elements reasonably considered to fall under DAO communications.
3. Covers Feb 2026 through Jan 2027. Expenditures from the 2026 Communications Budget will cover only expenses that occur between Feb 2026 and Jan 2027, inclusive.
4. Decision making for 2026 Communications Budget. For expenditures of less than $1,000 USD from the 2026 Communications Budget, decisions will be made by the Media Director, in consultation with DAO Core Contributors. For expenditures of $1,000 or greater, decisions will be made in the following way: first, the leader of the relevant working group will make a recommendation to the DAO community in the weekly DAO community call; second, the DAO community will discuss such recommendations and alternatives; and third, DAO Core Contributors will decide the matter via majority vote.
5. Logistics for transfer of funds. Funds allocated to specific purposes will be paid out in USDC or ETH at the request of the recipient. If the DAO does not have enough of the relevant token available at the time of the transfer, the DAO will trade USDC for ETH or ETH for USDC, as the case requires, prior to the transfer.
6. Previous communications budget closed. All DAO expenditures on Operations for the period February 2026-January 2027 shall be taken from the budget described in this proposal. The DAO’s 2025 budget, with respect to communications, is now considered closed; no further funds may be taken from it.
7. Further communications allocations require a DAO proposal. Any further allocation of funds from the Quantum Biology DAO treasury to DAO Communications may only occur via a formal proposal passed by the DAO.
8. Reporting expenses. The Media Director, who is the leader of the DAO’s Communications working group, will report actual expenses spent from the 2026 Communications Budget to the DAO.
The DAO benefits from being able to host its website, pay API costs so that its news aggregator, Qubie News, can scrape Twitter / X, send people to conferences to promote the DAO, and other things covered under “Communications.” Having a budget allocated to these things is necessary if the DAO is to pay for them.
