Quantum Biology DAO Annual 2025 Budget, v1.1

Quantum Biology DAO Development Proposal - 006 (QBIO DP-6) Title: Quantum Biology DAO Annual 2025 Budget

Summary: Quantum Biology DAO Development proposal - 006 (QBIO DP-6) approves the use of the Quantum Biology DAO treasury, both QBIO and ETH, to power the operation of the DAO from February 2025 through January 2026.

Background: The Quantum Biology DAO is planning to advance the field of quantum biology from basic science through to its launch as a new industry. This requires a variety of activities, including scientific planning and judgment on grants, communicating and educating the world about quantum biology, tracking contributions, ensuring compliance, and backend development. Many of these functions will be managed by Working Groups, where the Quantum Biology DAO has already created (QBIO DP-4) a Science Working Group, Communications Working Group, and Operations Working Group.

Description

  1. Approval of $120,000 USD for Feb 2025-Jan 2026 The Quantum Biology DAO will allocate $120,000 USD for its operations for the February 2025 through January 2026 period. This budget indicates a maximum, which should not be unreasonably exceeded, rather than the target amount to spend. It is, however, expected that the Quantum Biology DAO will spend most or all of the budgeted amount during this period.

  2. Allocation of budget to DAO functions The budget for the Quantum Biology DAO will be allocated among functions as follows. The entries marked “TBD” will be determined over the course of the year.

Budget Allocation: *See linked Google doc above

  1. Form of compensation The Quantum Biology DAO will compensate designated contributors in two ways: (1) cash, and/or (2) QBIO governance tokens. When a contributor is compensated in cash, the DAO will send the contributor USDC, which is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. When a contributor is compensated in governance, the DAO will send the contributor QBIO, which is the Quantum Biology DAO governance token. Contributors may choose whether they prefer to receive cash or governance or a combination of both.

  2. Process of compensation When a contributor is compensated in cash, the DAO will send the contributor USDC from its treasury. If the DAO does not have enough USDC, the DAO will sell ETH for USDC first. When a contributor is compensated in QBIO, the DAO will send the contributor QBIO from the Community Incentives pool from the treasury.

  3. Amount of QBIO The above budget is denominated in US dollars. QBIO tokens are available for trade on the decentralized exchange Uniswap and can easily be traded for US dollars. As such, if a contributor chooses to be compensated in QBIO, the amount of QBIO will be determined by the amount they would have received in US dollars multiplied by the QBIO spot price on Uniswap. Any contributor interested in governance may avoid Uniswap transaction fees by asking for QBIO directly.

  4. Amount of compensation The amount of compensation for a given position or activity will be determined by the Core Contributors of the Quantum Biology DAO or whomever they delegate that authority to. This should fall within the budget stated above. Currently, the Quantum Biology DAO Core Contributors are Clarice D. Aiello, Geoff Anders, and Alessandro Lodesani.

Conclusion The above budget is designed for a “periscope scenario,” where DeSci interest has receded slightly but is expected to return. Through the resources allocated, the Quantum Biology DAO will be able to advance along the DAO’s public available roadmap or along whatever other course token holders decide, building the quantum biology field and industry and generating value within the DAO.
