Context
This proposal makes minor tweaks to the current curation system, aiming to address issues observed in the first 3 Seasons.
Proposal
Ad Hoc Curation
- The guidelines set forth by the Curation Committee Internal Regiment are suspended indefinitely, thus precluding the formation of Curatorial Committees in RAW;
- All curatorial decisions will be settled directly by the RAW community;
- Ad Hoc curatorial decisions can be quickly settled with a simple majority non token-weighted Discord poll in the token-gated curation channel;
- a. the minimum quorum required for a decision is 10% of the authenticated member base;
- b. there can't be more than 1 Ad Hoc poll live at any moment;
- c. Ad Hoc polls must include an option to abstain;
- e. Ad Hoc polls must have a maximum duration of 2 weeks.
- Only members with the “scout” role shall have the right to trigger Ad Hoc curatorial polls in the community;
- a. the scout role shall be awarded by the community to members who have demonstrated curatorial ability and/or deal making skills, and don’t have clear conflicts of interest, such as being strongly associated to a photography platform or a competing DAO;
- b. any member fulfilling the requirements of (a) can apply for a scout position;
- c. after applications are gathered, the top 5 winners of a Discord approval-voting poll with a 1 week duration will be granted the scout role;
- d. new scout elections shall be held every quarter-end.
- This system can also be used to approve donations.
Community Curation
- Curation Seasons will happen every month according to the following schedule:
| Week |
Phase |
| Week 1 |
Nominations |
| Week 2 |
Appraisal & Collection Voting |
| Week 3 |
Specific Pieces Voting |
| Week 4 |
Acquisitions |
- a. weeks 2 — 4 can be moved forward in case the nominations slots are quickly filled.
- Nominations shall be made in a specific form (or platform) so as not to clog discord channels, following these constraints:
- a. members shall nominate collections, not specific pieces;
- b. maximum of 1 nomination per member per season;
- c. maximum of 10 total nominations per season;
- d. nominations will be considered in chronological order;
- e. collections in which RAW already has significant positions won’t be considered.
- Voting shall happen in a specific form (or platform) according to these rules:
- a. the approval voting method will be used, in which members will be able to choose all collections they approve of for RAW to collect;
- b. members shall vote only once, non-token weighted;
- c. individuals can nominate and vote on their own works;
- d. discussions and meetings shall be held in Discord for members to share their opinions during voting;
- e. colluding and campaigning is prohibited, members aren't allowed to privately reach out to others and influence their decision making;
- openly sharing one's opinion in a constrained manner in dedicated discussion spaces (i.e. Discord curation channel, curation calls and Discourse topics) is allowed;
- violation of this rule will result in a member's suspension from the curatorial process for 3 seasons.
- f. the top 3 voted nominations will be collected;
- if there is a tie for any position, all tied collections will be collected for up to 4 total collections in descending order of ranking, after which the scouts will be in charge of tiebreaking.
- Acquisitions: the choice of which specific pieces from each collection to purchase will be decided with simple majority Discord polls in a specific token-gated curation-polls channel, triggered by members with the scout role;
- scouts are expected to liaise with artists and collectors to source good deals for RAW prior to acquisition voting. Regular members can also be engaged in this process;
- only 1 work will be acquired from each of the winning collections;
- any ties shall be broken by the scouts.
Closing Remarks
We remain committed to improving our decentralized curation system.
