REFRACT PASS Membership Proposal

Summary

In order to simplify and better communicate affiliation with Refraction, we propose that membership is accessed exclusively through our REFRACT PASS NFT. Anyone who holds one will be recognized as a member of Refraction’s community, gaining opportunities to engage with and create a future that values the economic independence of artists across the world. Above all, membership represents an advocacy for a creator-run movement that is grounded in ingenuity, originality, and a belief in art’s ability to transform the world around us.

Benefits

Throughout the year, members get special access to music festivals, art exhibitions, and digital art created by top artists, including:

• REFRACT PASS-exclusive NFT Drops
• Events worldwide and future VIP experiences
• Membership Portal (Featuring event archives, DJ mixes, panel recordings, grant applications, and RSVPs for our next events)
• Refraction community network (Full Discord access, including new city-based channels)

Existing Refraction members must hold a REFRACT PASS in order to maintain membership and the accompanying benefits shared above. Any current members who hold 500 or more $REFRACT tokens will be airdropped a REFRACT PASS. To view your current $REFRACT holding, follow the instructions shared here.

Members who do not hold the requisite 500 $REFRACT tokens will maintain limited Discord access. We want to preserve any opportunity for our current community to continue sharing, connecting, and learning, so a “Town Square” channel will be made available to keep the conversation in motion. Our admins will also continue to share in Discord so you can hear first-hand about any events, drops, exhibitions, and excitement in store. If you have less than 500 $REFRACT, we will maintain a grace period until February 28th offering time to mint a PASS before limited Discord access is implemented.

If you are looking to gain full membership benefits but are unable to purchase a REFRACT PASS, this form provides an opportunity to apply for a REFRACT PASS based on merit, specifically for members who are particularly engaged or looking to bring their skillset into the community.

Rationale

In the past, Refraction membership has been free and open. When someone has been approved via our general application process, we have airdropped them 10 $REFRACT tokens to designate membership and encourage further active contribution. As Refraction evolves, we will be limiting the number of token disbursements and reserving allocations to active community members who are interested in becoming core contributors to the DAO.

For those in a position to support, our REFRACT PASS will be the easiest and most accessible way to participate in Refraction and enable our membership to continue offering grants and hosting world-class events.

Vote

This Snapshot will be weighted on a 1-token-1-vote basis, meaning, owning more $REFRACT does not equate to more voting power. All votes in this Snapshot will be weighted equally.
