Why:

I’ve been thinking how all of the current Yuga assets relate to each other and am thinking a Koda has more upside than a Mutant going forward. Of course a lot can change, but a lot of the appeal of a Mutant is membership to the Yacht Club and the perks (ex. claims) it provides. We already have access to those things with our OG ape so we can keep them intact if we sell our mutant.

We don’t even know what a Koda really does yet, but they are presumably some kind of gatekeeper of the Otherside, a completely untapped area of the ecosystem. Because of this, I believe the demand for Kodas will outpace the demand for Mutants over the rest of the year and possibly beyond.

Once Kodas are able to be decoupled from lands, I think being able to pair our Koda with our OG Ape land also has the potential to be very valuable down the road.

My only concern is while Mutants are mostly a bet on Yuga Labs, Kodas are a bet on Yuga, Animoca, Improbable, and others involved in the Otherside.

Current Floor Prices are as follows:

MAYC: 19.2 (18.24 after fees) Otherdeed - Chemical Goo: 3.89 (3.59 after fees) Koda: 23.85

Based on current floor prices, the total proceeds after OS fees would be 21.83 $ETH. Approximately 2.02 $ETH would need to be added to purchase a Koda. So essentially this trade is simplified as Mutant + 2 $ETH for a Koda.

Bear Case: The main bear case here is if Otherside is not well received by the community and becomes a flop. I would bet this does not happen, but it is a possibility as metaverses and web3 games are a largely untapped market so far and we aren’t exactly sure how they will look and work.

There’s also the possibility to get a Koda cheaper if we wait to purchase one until after they are decoupled from otherdeeds. We wouldn’t have to buy the linked land in that case. But if we wait for this there is also the potential for Kodas to go up in price between now and then with a potential announcement coming after the 21-day BAYC/MAYC claim window closes in two days.
