SUMMARY: To engage the ResearchHub Community in directing decision-making around aspects of the ResearchHub platform, this proposal seeks to implement an adjustment to the current reward algorithm on ResearchHub. The proposed adjustment is to increase the yearly rewards to users on the platform from 0.5% to 2% to better facilitate engagement in the open on the platform (See attached table).
MOTIVATION: The intention for this emission increase is to provide a 3 month assessment period on the impact of increasing the rewards on the platform to more favorably incentivize the creation and discussion of scientific content on the platform. With enhanced rewards to scientists and content creators on ResearchHub through the reward algorithm, users are more encouraged to discuss and publish in the open.
PROPOSAL AND ACTION: Currently, the ResearchHub Reward Algorithm is emitting at a total of 0.5% per year. We propose to increase rewards to platform users from 0.5% to 2% in order to better incentivize activity on the ResearchHub platform. The increase in rewards to the users will be reassessed after 3 months of RIP-13 passing for any notable negative impacts or lack of positive impact. The emissions may be reverted to 0.5% contingent upon a follow up vote in 3 months.
