Research Improvement Proposal (RIP)-1: Hub Reorganization

Voting ended almost 4 years agoSucceeded

SUMMARY: Currently, there is some redundancy in certain categorizations regarding hub structuring and organization. To better consolidate the hubs, we propose to reorganize based on a new framework which contains 6 categories, 4-11 Hubs per category, varying number of sub-hubs within each hub. Linked here: (https://confluence.egi.eu/display/EGIG/Scientific+Disciplines).

MOTIVATION: The Category/Hub layout and grouping should be encompassing enough to have lively activity while not diluting content that users would like to see when subscribing to a hub. By aggregating hubs together, we can help bolster activity and facilitate discussion in smaller hubs. Additionally, standardizing the hubs structure by using a publicly available classification would remove any potential source of bias regarding ResearchHub hubs organization.

PROPOSAL: We would like to propose a reorganization of the hubs based on the new framework (linked above) which uses the Frascati Field of Science and Technology (FOS) as a skeleton. If passed, this will be used as the primary backbone for the hubs, but will still allow for flexibility to make modifications to include specific hubs not in this framework, which can be discussed informally in our community discussions forums.

A) For: Reorganize hubs according to the new framework while allowing for flexibility B) Against: Leave hub categorization as it currently is C) Abstain

ACTION: If option A is passed, the layout of the hubs will be restructured according to the design posted in this proposal. If option B is passed, hub page layout and groupings will remain as they are. If option C is passed, then we will continue to deliberate on a restructuring that better represents all hubs.
